was meant to go out on a group ride today (as you can tell i didnt)
no idea what actually happened. I felt good and ready to go. Been off the bike a while but i thought i was still fit, was meant to be a 50mile ride. I set out in good time to get there did my usual little run out got to my first little hill and crashed out.. no idea what happened. i remember blasting up the hill in the 20-30mph range this time i was in a small gear and struggling....
I didnt get half the way to the start and i was spent, its kinda knocked my confidence but i know it happens
I really cant understand what happened which is whats bothering me the most...

Eat more for breakfast, failing that, refer to rule #5

Joking aside, it sounds like you either didn't eat enough for breakfast or your cardio has dropped off more than you'd thought - the good thing is that it'll come back quick.FCN 2 to 80 -
lol I know, I know
I got some turbo sessions out over the last few days much harder than rollers. Going for a run out tomorrow evening which should be interesting.
I think my fitness has plummeted, I used to be "super fit" but now I am what i would call below average.
Have seemingly kept all my muscle mass but put on a bit of fat. still strong just unfit
tomorrows run out is about 9miles each way, 2 little blasts up hill right at the start tho... goes up then a drop off then up a steeper section about 200m long most of the time from a standing start due to rail lines. Nice and flat after that tho 8)FCN: 5/6 Fixed Gear (quite rapid) in normal clothes and clips

Not sure what distances you were doing but its unlikely to be bonking on the way to a ride unless you've had a series of very heavy days and poor nutrition.
Did you actually black out - I get that impression from what you wrote. if you did and you're feeling generally rubbish you should see a medical person soon.... you might have fainted or worse (I'm thinking cardiac issues or perhaps even a micro stroke) so if you did blackout and can't remember what happened - see a doctor SOON!

28inch quads mean I can still put the power down. I can still hit the hills in the low 20's but last year I could get up them no problem. my fixed gear was running a 50x13 gearing and managed the hills perfectly easy.
I dont think I blacked out. but there is a small patch i cant remember now i think about it but i am guessing i dont remember cos i was wanting to be sick
Looked through my Garmin and it seems odd. (no odd heart rate readings) my speed and heart rate look good for most of the ride, but right at the start my speed dropped but the heart rate carried on climbing. I know the road in that sections flat. I can see my heart rate come down but it was a good minute or 2 later before it seemed to settle down.
I may have gone out a little too hard to start with.
rides have been put on hold AGAIN, saw the doc who said short spinning sessions are fine but i got to keep an eye on the knee as its numb (he thinks they may have severed a nerve in surgery) but the meds he gave me had me stoned last night so I dont actually feel safe riding on them as i could barely pick up a cup.FCN: 5/6 Fixed Gear (quite rapid) in normal clothes and clips
