Simple answer would appear to be - get rid of the Police.

How do you think that would work out?

no one asked a question where that could possibly be the answer..... I think you posted this in the wrong place

No police = anarchy in the UK 8) = no more bitchin threads about the police on this forum

what people aren't seeing is the actual juxtaposition of this thread in relation to the majority of the others posted on this forum. However 'cuntributers' are quick to flame me for a negative police perspective when I have opened the discussion inviting positive comments on personal experiences with the police.
I really don't understand some people, who are offered an opportunity, and retaliate with personal and negative comments with no real thought other than to personally offend and cause arguement. Fortunately I am above this 8) and older than 8

Got a couple of spooky ones from a friend who is a copper in the MET.

Story 1. Two police in a patrol car driving through hampstead late at night, see a person hanging from a tree (rope around neck), slam on the brakes do a u turn and start calling it in. Drive back and get out, the person has gone and no sign of any rope.

Story 2. Police get a call from an elderly lady who said she has an intruder in her house, four police turn up and search the property from top to bottom, no sign of an intruder. They then go to the dining room to chat to the lady when they see a person running past them in the hallway towards the back door. They pile out of the room to jump on the intruder, when they get to the hall the person has gone, no sign of them, they check the back door and its locked. The old lady said that the intruder does the same thing on a regular basis.

Well, there's my classic about the cyclist who RLJ'ed right in front of a fully-banana'ed motorbike cop. He and I exchanged a look as if to say "Is she taking the p155?", he shakes his head, lights change, off he goes, blues and twos and catches her in about a nanosecond...out with the notebook...

Nice copper story - stopped at a well known burger chain where there were lots of scooter cooters hanging out, two motorcycle cops there, took the kids to have a look at their bikes - I have twins, guess they were about 4 then - and copppers let the kids sit on their bikes, then put on the lights for them - how cool was that?

I've been to loads of footie matches and seen it all kick off, had various drunk and disorderly near misses with the cops but generally don't have a problem with them.

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • Got stopped for speeding (overtook an unmarked car dawdling along a country lane, which then followed me). Officer explained the 'dangers of speed' but accepted that I had slowed down where necessary, adhered to the limits through built-up areas and manouvered safely. Let me off with a warning.
Nobody told me we had a communication problem

Many moons ago, I was on my way home from a TA exercise in Germany. We had been dismissed at about 3 in the morning at the TA Centre probably five miles from my house, after walking half way home a Police car stopped and offered me a lift the rest of the way.
    Very decent of them. :)

Just about the only positive story I have, I can think of a number of negative stories.....but that'll be another thread :)

I had a much modified Ford Escort in my yoof, was taking it out for a shakedown after another modifying session, approached a roundabout at a farily 'aggresive' speed, pitched the car in sideways and slid it round just as the motorbike cops pulls up at a stop line, pootle off up the dual carriageway at the 40 limit and he pulls alongside and waves me down.

"That was a bit quick - wasn't it?"
    "Err yes Officer"
"Well don't let me see you doing that on the public roads again - nice car - now on your way SLOWLY"
    "YES OFFICER!"

Driving down a slip road in the dark with a car following me I pulled onto the dual carriageway behind a lorry. Seeing the traffic approaching behind I realised that unless I overtook the lorry sharpish I would get boxed in.
I dropped into a lower gear and floored it right up to 90 mph and was amazed to see the car behind me do the same, right up my behind, so I went quicker. Quickly followed by flashing blue lights.
I pulled over and after confirming that I knew that I was speeding, he asked me to explain. So I said that I was simply overtaking the lorry when I saw his headlights and thought I better get out of his way.
Fair enough he said and let me go :P

i've been stopped for speeding when I had a lowered chav-mobile backintheday and the copper just said "take it easy mate, these things are lethal, drive slower."
ever since then I've been a pretty sensible driver.

In my youth I was driving like an absolute idiot and was being followed by an unmarked Peugeot 309 (which is just cheating on their part, in my opinion).
I was stopped, breathalised and the car searched (not me though, wierd). After checking all of my details the copper told me that I'm obviously not stupid and advised me to not drive in such a stupid manner. I've been much better on the road since then (almost 20 years later).

Other than that, all of my police stories are of being stopped and harrassed for no reason (other than the obvious).

this is good refreshing stuff now peeps :D

    they're not all bad then.

once at 17 on a 125cc motorbike I was out with a mate and we stopped for a half. On exiting and tootling down the country road I was stopped by bike officer who got the breathaliser out and I sh@t myself as it was maybe 2 mins after finishing the beer (prolly a shandy). From memory he was pleasant enough, but I couldn't figure out his actual reason for stopping me was (if he had one). At best I would guess it was for half an L plate (they always tear off), at worst he had no reason other than having seen me leave a pub on a motorbike.

the local rent a bobbys are nice enough and happy to deal with any probs as best as they can, but they don't appear have the clout to really deter some of the chavs round here, or more likely the chavs couldn't give a stuff

You think wrong. Fortunately my Dad thought the same :P

Publicans do turn a blind eye (probably due to common misconception) but the legal age for consumption of alcohol is 18.

unless you are having a 'table meal' in which case it is 16.

You have to be at least 6 to legally drink alcohol at home 8)

Fair enough but it is different going out with the family for a meal and a few 17 year olds drinking "shandy". Shades of grey I suppose.
Didn't know about the over 5 thing though..... Although it has been going on at Hogmanay for as long as I can remember.
