    I don't even wear a watch.

I have a couple... somewhere in the house but I couldn't tell you what make they are or even where they are; and the batteries are most likely flat.

    Or Horology...

    I was lucky enough to inherit a collection of watches;

    Rolex Submariner 1960's
    Heuer Carrera 1960's
    Rolex GMT 1970's
    Omega Speedmaster 1960's (Moonwatch)
    Omega Seamaster bumper 1960's

And my own everyday watch: Omega Seamaster pro 300m Titanium

    http://www.finetimepieces.com/omega/sea ... pieces.htm

I did have a nice collection of guitars and amps too;:

1968 Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty"
    1969 les Paul Deluxe Goldtop
1964 Fender Strat (made from bits of various guitars, mostly 1964
    1968 Telecaster
1982 Telecaster (1952 reissue first edition)
    1974 Strat
1992 SRV strat with clapton boost

    7 x Fender Prosonic - yes, 7!!!
    1 x 1968 Fender Pro
    1 x 199x Fender Vibroverb (The SRV re-issue one)
    1 x Marshall Plexi re-issue and 4 x 12 cab

Sadly all gone now - paid for a house deposit!

I don't collect anything now....hopefully the watches (from my grandad) will pass to my kids. Unless Uni fees go even more skyward.

A basic casio digital for everyday wear.

A 1947 Omega bullseye dial for dress wear.

I prefer the casio to be honest.

I have one very nice Longines watch which was a wedding present from my wife. Before I got that I never wore a watch, now I wear it all the time unless I'm riding. As I ride most days I only seem to wear it at weekends now :0(

    I do like it though.

G-Shock Riseman which never leaves my wrist really. Oh and a fancy looking white thing that I got from Camden Market for a fiver.

Mudcow - I'm not sure 5 watches counts as an addiction, especially as they're not collectors items. They do cover all styles/purposes though - I think that's just good sense!

GTV's collection is rather tasty though. Me jealous.

I've got a couple of nice watches (very old Seamaster, newer Daytona) in my watch box, but a Seiko Sportura gets worn everyday for work and the bomb-proof G-Shock gets used for sport and weekends. Just added a TW Steel to the collection though.

G/f and I are talking about engagement though, and the idea of a new watch for me has been approved!

I'd quite like a watch to wear when cycling, not so much for when I'm on the bike as Garmin tells the time but more for when I'm off it at work or in the pub when I miss my watch. Any suggestions must be cheapish, cope with sweat grim etc?

What watch if any do you wear for cycling?

+1 on GTVs watch collection, lucky b'stard.

I've a Breitling for best, very low key Certina glass backed automatic for everyday and a Seiko Monster auto for watery things (even though all three are pretty seriously waterproof I reckon the Seiko could withstand being run over by a submarine).
FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
CAADX 105 beastie for bumpy bits
    Litespeed L3 for Strava bits

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

G-Shock range, I recommend the Riseman, others are good too. Bombproof really.

don't own a watch and haven't for 10 years or so; I do have a nice Dive computer that also tells the time, though.

I believe that it is the same year as the first lunar landing - my Grandad bought it straight away. There is also a couple of early Longines watches and an Heuer Stopwatch all from the 60's too.

They are all in a safe....somewhere!

    This.

I've got a mid-range G-shock from about 6 years ago. Tough-solar and wave-ceptor so doesn't need battery or adjusting. Years of abuse and it's still going strong.

now that is a proper collection, are they insured?

    g-shock you say.

    So I look here http://www.thewatchhut.co.uk/casio/casi ... 4Qod2nEiLA

    There's only one I really like http://www.thewatchhut.co.uk/Casio-G+Sh ... +1AER.html

Why is this one £400 when most of the others are sub £100

  • I must confess to a bit of a watch fetish. I have a few with dud batteries or broken straps but the 3 I use on a regular basis are:
    Omega Planet Ocean
Omega Seamaster 150 (more of a dress watch than the more common dive versions)
Casio G-Shock (can't remember model but it is analogue, 200m water resistance, Tough Solar so doesn't need to change batteries, and syncronises with atomic clock)

I prefer the look of the Omegas, and remain amazed that man can build a machine with all these cogs, springs etc that keep such great time, but wince a bit when wearing on some rough offroad track. There are hundred's of versions of G-shock, from about £20 upwards and these are pretty bomb proof so ideal for more active uses.
Nobody told me we had a communication problem

breitling aviator as a good watch
nautica chrono bought 15 years ago in the states as a daily wearer
moschino cheap and chic as a fashion watch
and about 10 others that i wear on occasion, including a couple of classic swatch watches, rotary and timex indiglo sport watch and the sad thing is they are all working and set to the right time as i replace the batteries as they run out in case i want to wear them

apart from the breitling which is a full automatic, no battery rqd
    dont only ride a bike

I guess the reason I don't wear a watch is: I've not found one I like enough to wear.

I've always wanted a wide fabric strap (1.5-2") with a REALLY thin watch attached. Almost like a sweat band (but not) - with no buckle as they just bug the hell out of me.

    To quote myself:

I did have a nice collection of guitars and amps too;:

1968 Les Paul Custom "Black Beauty"
    1969 les Paul Deluxe Goldtop
1964 Fender Strat (made from bits of various guitars, mostly 1964
    1968 Telecaster
1982 Telecaster (1952 reissue first edition)
    1974 Strat
1992 SRV strat with clapton boost

    7 x Fender Prosonic - yes, 7!!!
    1 x 1968 Fender Pro
    1 x 199x Fender Vibroverb (The SRV re-issue one)
    1 x Marshall Plexi re-issue and 4 x 12 cab

Sadly all gone now - paid for a house deposit!

I still have a Gibson 335 in faded cherry red and a Custom built Les Paul - super heavy with ivy abalone binding on the fretboard and my name on it (can't really sell it!)

No amps anymore - although, if I get back into playing, I will buy another Prosonic.

7.50/10.00 from little stall in westfield - simple rubbery strap with tiny digital clock. Waterproof and fairly proof for all conditions, salt based exfoliant + steam room for over 30 minutes will break it as my gf has found but otherwise fairly indestrucible and cheap

Gibson 335 is a great guitar, I was orginally going after one but ended up getting the bike instead, with the leftover got an Epiphone Sheraton, which is now sold. Also got rid of an Ibanez RG.

    At the moment have;

    Fender TC90 (Thinline)
    Hagstrom Swede (P90 Ltd Edition)
    Ibanez Saber (S5470F)
On order ; Amerian Fender Strat HSS

Amps - I have a Spider IV 30 - terrible amp. Will replace soon...
