    Mounty,

I said I would fill you in on my C2C adventures.

Well we managed the ride in two days, yes admittedly on road bikes and took the flatter route, Ravenglass to Siloth and then across past Carlisle and on to Newcastle and South Shields.

100 miles the first day and 75 the second, it was hard work especially the last 20 miles of each day  , the Sustrans signage of route 72 was absolutey excellent and full marks to Sustrans, any cyclist should join just to support the signage alone.

Would I do it again? yes but I would do it over 3 days just to enjoy it more.

Will definately be back next year to do the full off road route, St Bees to Robin Hood Bay, but will allow 5 days that time.

Tip, don't underestimate just how much it will take out of you, take your time and don't race and give yourself enough time to enjoy :D

Cheers for that puddle rider, as long as you enjoyed it thats the main thing....how was the weather ?

We are just about to complete organising our trip, Whitehaven to Sunderland, with day 1 being the longest day, approx 60 miles.

We are doing it over 3 days, with the empahsis on enjoying it. Really looking forward to it and I hope my fitness doesnt suffer too much...

The off road route will be my next trip too.

    Cheers.

HI Mounty, I've just been back through the thread and have made an assumption I assume is now wrong - you're not doing the C2C off road? As it was in the mtb rides forum I assumed it was... I'm only really interested in doing the offroad C2C - I don't really have anything suitable for long distance road riding, and it wouldn't be my bag anyway...

    No probs.

Yes we are doing the c2c both on and off road, hence listing it under the mtb rides section.
