It certainly gives me the best stats!!
I also like the way it only updates your speed every 3 seconds but does it to 2 decimal places.
I may give it another go but whilst it has plenty of bells and whistles, the core functions were pretty useless.
Neither have I... I've done nearly 700 miles worth of logging using mine!0 -
It doesn't give a realtime reading on speed- what it does is calculate it over something like 400 metres. That'll be why you get the 3 second updates. It still produces remarkably similar figures to my wired computer.
The only issues I have had is slight route variations. I'm pretty sure these are caused by problems with my iPhone picking up the gps signal. I have considered a bike mount, but they are expensive and the phone belongs to my employer so I can't really risk getting it nicked!0 -

other good thing about it is you can upload GPX files from GPS trackers. I've uploaded mine and works fine just a shame it dont use OSM cycle maps

Until yesterday I would have recommended cyclemeter, it's a great app, but on a 4.5 hour ride yesterday, the battery on my iPhone died before I made it home. As a result my full route data wasn't saved. It's a 3GS, I think maybe the iPhone 4's battery may last longer. Might be time for me to look at a garmin or suchlike0

This is the best iPhone app, quite looking forward to using it on the forthcoming TdF Extravaganza!

I haven't looked on the web for such a tool, but is there anykind of on bike charger for iPhones, that could prevent battery drain while on the road - bit like an old dynamo device?0

Another question - do the apps mentioned have any associated data costs to them? For example if you have a certain free data allowance in your mbile contract , do these apps consume any of this data allowance?0

These apps don't need to use data to track you, it uses the gps. Some of the apps may call up live mapping via google maps or similar though so that will use some of your data.
It will not be much though, and if your really worried about it just turn the data on your phone off while your out and when you save your workout make sure you turn it back on or get near some wifi to upload the workout file (very small) to the relevant website. Your mapped route should be all ready to see on your computer then0 -

Thanks for clarifying that - I have started using Endomondo on a work provided Nokia E72 and didn't want to discover via a snotty email from finance that I had been billed for large data transfers - I wasn't certain if the connection with GPS service would count towards this?0 -

Depending on your phone model, some phones have the option of using GPSa (a= Assisted, by triangulating between the nearest phone transmitters) - this results in faster, more accurate tracking, but also uses a data allowance. Check in your phones settings to switch-off GPSa if this is an option.Cycling weakly0 -

Found a very nice app from a friend who had been using it. Very slick interface + website with fb/twitter updates if your into that sort of thing. And of course, you can add in any other activities you get up too!
