Looks great. Hope it rides well, as I've just ordered one in a black / metallic gold combo, just like the link below but minus the pink...

£350 approx painted and delivered. Mine is the ISP version, or will be when it arrives.

That's a fantastic looking bike! Congratulations and well done. There is one thing that puzzles me though: it looks like your seatclamp is the wrong way around - unless, of course, the gap in the seat tube is at the front instead of the back. With the clamp this way around, surely you aren't getting proper compression of the seatpost?
    Just an observation. :-)

Correct - the slot in the seat tube will be at the front. Lots of bikes do it that way - stops road crap being flung up at the slot. I suspect that the default position being at the back is simply because a lot of frame designers still haven't realised that with compact frames, there is no need to have the slot at the back!

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Rolf F.
It does make much more sense!

Except that I now looked at my Look and discovered that that has the slot at the back but the bolt at the front

I'd guess that as long as the collar can slide on the sleeve, it doesn't matter where the gap is in relation to the slot. The slot and the gap do coincide on my Ribble and there it looks like the carbon is a bit pinched below the slot - but that might be a slight defect in the manufacturing. Nothings ever simple

    That's a handsome bike.
I think that tan bar tape would look good if it was a lot darker, still tan though - leather.

I thought the clamp was meant to be on the opposite side to the slot? As it is my bike has a slot on both sides so I put the clamp to the front. No issues with slippage or damage to frame/post

Size 54 frame was 1156g and fork 401g uncut.

My FM028 size 52 from Dengfu weighed 1040g for bare frame and 380g uncut fork on my crappy old fishing scales :)

Hello all! Just built up a FM028 from Carbonzone (RB002 as they call it). 12k gloss non-ISP in 54cm. Bare frame 1185g and fork (untrimmed) 409g. Built with Campag Centaur 10s groupset and Campag Zonda wheels. Total weigh in was 7.3kg. Very impressed with quick service from CZ! Order to delivery in a week! Initial ride was good. Seems like it will be an awesome Sportive bike. Rear triangle quite stiff in the chainstays, yet compliant on pot holes. Some torsional flex at front end when out of saddle. BB didnt need threads chasing or facing. I'm 5'9" and was trying to match the geometry of a bike I already have so went for the 54cm. Sorry the photo isnt great.

    Cheers,

Sorry for yet more pics of my bike, you're probably bored to death of it now.

However, I'm just posting a final update with new seatpost, handlebars and wheels. This is probably it's final guise. I'm gonna ride it like this through the summer whilst saving for a new steel frame - probably either an Independent Fabrication or Pegoretti - then transfer as many of these parts over as possible.

those wheels are very much wasted on that frame.

Hence why I'm saving for something better...
  • That is one lovely looking machine

How the heck did you end up with a cheap Chinese carbon frame and a set of Lightweights?

Well whilst the wheels are 'new' to me and the bike, they are second hand. So whilst they still weren't cheap, they weren't £2,700 either.

When I built the bike it was on a budget so I've sold and upgraded some bits since. The intention was always to buy a 'better' frame one day but the wheels came up first and I thought I'd get more of a benefit out of lighter and stiffer wheels than a new frame.

I'm having a fit next Wednesday so that I've got a better idea of my exact riding dimensions so that I'm in a position to get a frame whenever what I want comes up.

And I don't think the wheels should just sit on the floor until I get a frame which justifies them. Why not ride them in the mean time?!

mate u don't have to justify your wheels at all - they look good and your enjoying riding them, who cares what others say - its just not important!!!!

weight aside, How did you find your 60mm from carbonzone?? where they stiff in your opinion?? I only ask as I have just bought some as my first foray into deep section rims and am keen for long term ride reports :D:D .

Bike is looking very cool. I always thought the frames on ebay were cheaper as they were sourced from near by the seller and a lot of other companies will buy them and badge them as thier own.

The frame and wheels look great together. I'd love to have a bike like that.

    Cheers

Well the bike is no more. I was prepared to wait for a different frame but something came up on eBay and I couldn't resist. All parts stripped and on the new one so left with the frame and forks. Not sure whether to keep and rebuild with cheap second parts or sell...

How much would you sell it for? (Just out of interest  )

I think that bar tape would look spot on if it were dark tan with a bit of darker soiling like those old leather bomber jackets.

Also I had the opportunity to reweigh my 52 FM028 recently with everything removed. It's 1075 not 1040. Still 100g is too much difference for size alone I think. Must be a different layup.

Hey, what are the unbranded black-capped water bottles that you are using? They are in the picture of your bike you posted on CycleChat in 2011 :D
