good god man, you go through bikes than ryan giggs goes through his brothers wife!!

those bars look awful too, the stuff sorta suited the banshee, but the lynskey is just pure understated perfection, that kit is anything but understated

get rid of that awful gold cap and bashring on the cranks, swap that awful stem for something silver and you're good to go.

    Much nicer looking frame too

    .
i know you despise my chainset accessories and gold bits with a passion but i like them, i cant help it, i have extremely bad taste, on a plus note ive got to admit the lyskey is an amazing bike. after going straight from the banshee to the lynskey the difference is huge. im not knocking the banshee because it was a great bike. it handled great was a good weight and not too harsh for alu. the lynskey is on another planet, the frames a pound lighter it feels like i have an inch of suspension at the rear yet it tracks as well as the banshee. the geometry of the lynskey seems better too. its longer in the toptube and seems to like the 50mm stem and it seems more suited to the 140mm fork. did think about the 2011 model but for some reason they have decided to go with a 27.2mm seatpost dia instead of the 2010's 31.6mm which would have meant a new dropper post.

I definitely think the "raw" frame makes it look better. Just hope it doesnt crack like all other lynskeys seem to.
the lifetime warranty should come in handy then .

having had a good look at the bike i have decided to tone down the colours a bit especially the gold. stem is going but the bars stay as they feel awesome. going to remove the gold grip clamps and just have red. may remove the cranks golden caps but the bashring stays. also going to put my xtr spd's back on as flatties are not doing it for me. as you can probably figure im going to have the mother of all clearouts so keep your eyes peeled on the classifieds

    Finally!

This has the potential to look amazing if you get the colour scheme right. Removal of that stem is definately in the right direction!

    Thank god for that!

Should look really nice once you sort that lot out. I think the bars will actually look good if you're keeping the whole thing red.

Shame about the gold decals on the forks though.

i could take the decals off as the originals are lacquered on underneath, will see how it looks. got a gun metal ish colour stem on its way and some red ahead spacers. may get some goodridge red fittings for my hoses and some red brake pad pins. i do have a kcnc radiant r3 headset lying around doing nothing, its gold but not a very strong gold its more brass coloured like my chain, its over a hundred quids worth of headset and it seems a shame to waste plus i can get a red top cover for it. will see how it looks.

thepimp spanner has somewhow grafted itself to my hand !!!!! just had a laugh taking that gold crank axle bolt out, the non drive side rounded off so i had to drill 2 4mm holes in it insert 2 4mm allen keys into the holes then i clamped both allen keys with a big adjustable spanner to remove it , worked but now i have a knackered piece of golden pimpery :(

If you rounded that off, then you have done something very, VERY wrong indeed. The standard item is a plastic bolt that whouls be finger-tight. There's just no way it can round off unless you've done something ignorant or stupid.

    oh yeehaamgoo
as always you jump in with ill informed posts. if you had any experience with xtr you would know that it has an 8mm alloy bolt that actually hold the arm on as a threaded collar behind the arm tensions the arms against the bearings, also as already mentioned i had fitted aftermarket gold alloy bolts to my chainset , the non drive side bolt that torques the arm on only has a 5mm allen bolt fitment so it is very easy to round off. so all in all you are the ignorant and stupid one here it seems, stick to what you know best ,trolling and owl bothering

here she is with a few running alterations, the stem although i love it may be just a tad long at 75mm but i have a 65mm one arriving tomorrow. ive toned the gold bits down a lot and just left hints. also put my beloved xtr spd's back on.

i love it, it does everything i require of a bike and as for looks, i find my own brother attractive so i guess my bike has to be slightly better looking than him.

i thought it was thursday today until a passer by corrected me. so as im 2 days ahead of schedule i thought id change more bits on my banshee viento, ive stuck on a 65mm funn stem, a titanium one piece topcap/bold thingimibob and a kcnc radiant r3 headset. the gold ahead spacers are temporary as i have red ones coming to my house.

That stem makes it look about potato times better. Once you get the spacers changed that'll be spot on.

im putting a raw ti topcap and bolt on and plain red spacers. i had to stick the headset on as its a quality piece of engineering and it seemed lonely in my spares box.

what are those gold blobs on the gear cable?
  • pastey_boy
    pastey_boy Posts: 2,083
middleburn oilers, you pull the o ring to the side and there is a hole to insert the thin red tube off a tin of spray lube. one of the best bits you can put on your bike, if cables feel a bit sticky just give them a quick blast and theyre like new. £5.99 for 3 in all colours and either for 4mm or 5mm cables. also work even better if you run full length housings or sealed cables

swapped the bash for a carbon jobbie and swapped my 32t front chainring for a 36t, also fitted red ahead spacers upfront. very happy with the look of the bike now as i am the ride, i know ive been going through bikes like a mad man but this ones a keeper unless i break it. only change i may make is to swap the ust nobby nics to a pair of tubeless ready ones as this will save quite a bit of weight but i will wear the ust one out first.
