I was completely 'airy' a few rides back.
All burpy and gaseous, very uncomfortable.
It got so bad I seriously considered going back to get a good sniff the rotting body of a dead badger, just to be sick.0 -
last week i caught a good sniff of a bloated rotting badger that a crow was tucking into for his lunch - not pleasant, but probably better than those microwave burgers they sell in service stations on reflection2011 Bianchi D2 Cavaria in celeste (of course!)
2011 Enigma Echo 57cm in naked Ti
2009 Orange G2 19" in, erm orange0 -

My daughter's final degree show was all about images of roadkill.Tail end Charlie
The above post may contain traces of sarcasm or/and bullsh*t.0 -
tonight - 1 squirrel with eyes bulging out of it's sockets - weird!0
-
Sadly, too much roadkill around here these days...however, it's incredibly quick how soon a carcass gets stripped to the bone - saw a deer picked clean overnight.
Saw a dead moose in Sweden or wild boar in Belgium - does that count?Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
I'm thinking of coming up with a Roadkill Bingo card for our LEJOG trip next week so this is a great thread for ideas on what to include.0

wild boar

2 x rabbits last night - one fresh, one flat as a pancake
I have an acquaintance in Oz who has written & published 2 recipie books based on road kill!0 -
one smashed badger
several rabbits
something that was probably quite small once, but is now several feet long !!
Almost had a rabbit through my front wheel last night. It was sitting in the road, saw me, ran away in the same direction as I was travelling, then as I was about a foot behind it, it made a dart to the right, thought better of it and went left into the hedge.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

@graham, thank you, pictures paint a thousand words, however, the first pic must have been animal driftwood?
Only seen a lamb and two does so far here. (Isle of Skye, Borreraig).
So we have the potential for fava beans and a spot of chianti, or we all break out in song...
You know the words...
Doe, a deer a female deer, ray a drop of golden sun, me a name I call myself, far a long long way to run..................
Heck and breathe...
Bet you're all singing tho!!
Love n hugs

Since moving to US I have seen all sorts of strange roadkill including snakes, chipmunks, skunks (smell even worse when dead) and possums.
Strange place......0 -
Yesterday, a swallow nearly flew straight into me, it was like it was playing chicken, darted to my right at the last second, made me flinch and wobble a bit!
This morning i saw a ickle chaffinch on the road with its legs pointing upwards!
I have said a quiet prayer and shed a tear, its no way for a finch to go!0 -
Lol, the picture of the frog, has it been run over or eaten too much caviar!!0
-
I spotted a rather large dead deer on the other side of the road last week, then the next car I saw coming towards me was the google Street view camera car, so hopefully that saw the road kill too!0

Just out of interest, how did you know it was a male?
Different colour, see http://www.herpetofauna.co.uk/adder.htm for a good guide. In the spring if a male adder gets the scent of a female, they make a beeline in that direction, going straight across roads etc~~~~~~Sustrans - Join the Movement~~~~~~0 -

Ah-ha
I was gonna ask the same. lots of snakes need an internal probe to determine the sex. We've had a couple & were advised not to just to know cos of the discomfort it causes.0 -

That one was right outside our house. I was just leaving for work and had to nip back in to get a camera!
It probably came from our pond.
We are currently hosting a one eyed frog called Jason.

Earlier this year I saw a dead dear with its unborn foetus another 5meters down the road...worst thing I've seen when riding about!
Oh and I got to tick off cat last week, I've nearly got a full house, roads round here are a blood bath!0 -
