Nibali cracked a km too soon -- 500 metres before the summit he could hang on off the back but he's going to lose a lot in the time before he reaches the top once the Contador group has gone over.

Kiryienka faster up the climb than the Contador group.

    My wife's analysis-

'Oh god, how can you watch this with that awful droning voice going on and on?'

I privately thought 'i've had plenty of practice living with you...'

That Finestre has to be one of the bestest climbs around :)

Gadret nearly chopped Scarponi but good there!

N's done well to limit the gap, but chances are he'll be dropped again later.

Do they still hand out bidons full of lead bearings for descents? Because Rujano could probably use a couple about now.

She only stays with him because she likes Napoleon's 'Boney'-part.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

After 3 weeks a 240km stage is just pointless esp. When theres a couple of climbs still to go ... They could have shortened it by about 100km and then done Finestere twice to give the leaders something to fight about ...

The most boring stage of this Giro by miles ... Pretty poor for the last Saturday ...

    +1

I really enjoyed it too and some of the scenery was simply amazing. If only they could broadcast in full HD.

A really enjoyable stage! I wish the tour would keep some good stuff for the end.
Does anyone think the timetrial will be decisive for the lesser places?

Heavyweight win by Kiri, looking forward to watching it all.

    Nibali's chance to get 2nd......

Only Rujano and Contador have GC balls.

I thought it was a great stage and a good win...

If I'd have said what I was thinking out loud to my mrs, I'd be typing this with my nose because my other arm would be in a sling too.

Very good stage. Doesn't save the giro but it was good

I'm afraid 2005 coloured my expectations for today.
Sestrieres was OK, but Finestre flopped.

I reckon we've had 3 really great stages and about 3 pretty decent affairs. The rest have had a whiff of manure.

I'd agree. 3 good stages. The rest of it seems unremarkable. Almost TdF levels of blandness at times.

Well it can't be brilliant every year, can it? The course was excellent, it's just unfortunate (from the neutral POV) that Contador sucked the drama out of the racing by being a level above everyone else.

As they always say, It's the riders that make the race.
This time the parcours were great but the only people attacking were the foreigners.

There must be a lot of mud slinging in the Italian papers.

Nah, the course was great *on paper*. In reality it was too hard to risk attacking on as there was no let up. A lot of journalists predicted this might happen when looking carefully at the route.

You would be rewarded with patience and small efforts here - The big effort = failure.

I felt is it's been a rather dull race. After what seemed a brilliant Spring of one-day races this GT just didn't hit the spot.
