Back of knee/top of calf pain

For nearly two months I've been suffering with a pain that's at the very top of my calf/just below the crease in my knee which has kept me off the bike.
All my own fault I rode 60 miles too hard on a stinking hangover with a saddle that was too high.
For a while I had a problem with a very stiff calf afterwards, when it got better a couple of times I played football for 2-3 minutes and got this pain at the top of my calf next day calf we stiff again and locked up.
I've now not done any proper exercise for about 3 weeks and feel sh1te for it. Although my general calf feels 100% fine I've not shifted this pain, it seems to be a problem as my leg nears full straightness, If I run up the stairs it's fairly sharp, local and stops me quickly, it's best described as being below the crease in my knee/at the very top of my calf.
I've sat on my bike hooked up to the turbo trainer and found that irrespective of resistance just before my leg reaches its maximum extension on the down stroke I feel this pain too but not as bad as if I play football or run upstairs - note this is with my saddle correctly setup:). Resistance doesn't seem to affect it. I've sat on the trainer and rode for 30 seconds and it felt like my inner calf was beginning to stiffen up although thankfully it hasn't. I sat on the trainer yesterday for 2-3 minutes and the area is definitely a little more sore today but there's absolutely no aggravation walking.
When I sat back hands free on the turbo trainer and rode slowly there was a faint movement/twang coming from the painful area which wasn't obvious when on the drops.
I've been stretching almost everyday and most muscles in my legs, nothing seems to replicate the pain and it doesn't seem to be getting much better.
I appreciate people will say see a sports physio, I have, I was told my glutes were weak which may be causing the problem, there was no certainty though. I've spent a week doing all the exercises given to me and nothing has changed with my knee but my glutes are definitely stronger. I was told I could've ridden/run last weekend but I'm confident that's definitely not the case after playing on the trainer. I do have generally weak glutes, have for ages but I generally know how to manage them but they're weak in both legs and this problem is only in my left leg.
I'm wondering if there's tendon or ligament damage I could've done and also if anyone can recommend a good physio in central Bristol? Especially someone that operate outside 9-5 as time off is tricky at the moment.

Sounds like an inflammation issue- rest & ice would then be a good idea. My guess would be hamstring tendon - I think ligament damage would be felt when walking and you would have some instability rather than just pain.
Different physio & make it clear its an acute injury not just a weakness you usually can deal with. Inflammation needs to go down before you start treating it too.
You're probably looking at 6-8 weeks for whatever it is to calm down and repair....0 -
Unfortunately that's kinda what I was thinking which means my London Paris ride is off.
I'll seek a second opinion and see what's what, I haven't been swimming yet, that's my last refuge, if I'm facing 2 further months of no exercise I'm going to be climbing the walls.
The worse thing is not knowing how long I'll be off for, that's what really sucks. If I was told 8 weeks it'd be a bugger but at least I've something to aim for. Tell you what Saturday and Sundays lie ins are a nice bonus though.0
