What time are we talking? It seems I can turn up in Cardiff at 9:30, and get to Treorchy (fairly close to Glyncorrwg according to Google maps) about an hour later. Any good?

I'm still in for this, i'm up for an all day saturday ride.

I wouldn't mind doing this but would need a lift and no idea what funds I have available.. will have to make a last minute decision

i'm heading over from bristol if you need a lift mate, going to have the seat down in the focus so room for another steed in the back.

As mentioned will let you know on the 1st July but should be able to.

Are you doing the Sat or Sun, or both?

If people are doing both days, are people actually staying anywhere or are you gonna do the bear in woods thing?

*Wonder if I have any welsh friends near Port Talbot*

Chaps i'm browsing the forrestry commisions website, looking and choosing which trails to do etc?

    W2
    This is another giant of
    a trail for Afan Forest
    Park at 44 km, but
    unlike Skyline it has a
    watering hole halfway
    around.
    Whether you kick-off from
    Afan Visitor Centre or
    Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike
    Centre, the other centre is
    your halfway service station
for food, drink and a well
    deserved break.
    The trail combines Afan’s
    existing Y Wal and White’s
    Level trails (hence the
name w2). A high level link
    connects these trails, with
    some fantastic views of
    both the Afan and Neath
    Valleys for you to enjoy.
This trail includes two of the
    most demanding descents
    in the UK.

    Or Skyline
Skyline is a giant of a
    ride. Ensure you and
    your equipment are
    fully prepared for an
    epic skyline ride.
    Sharing the same sheeptrack
    ascent as White’s
    Level and continuing on
    long, forest road climbs
    with sweet, flowing
    technical singletrack
    descents you will be treated
    to stunning, skyline views of
    the Brecon Beacons, the
    Preselis, the Black
    Mountains and the South
    Wales coast.
    This route will test your
    stamina and your nerve,
    with technical singletrack
    such as sections On The
    Edge and Excalibur. Your
    reward will be out-stretched
    views and a nerve-tingling,
    rocky, 6 km singletrack
    descent back into
    Glyncorrwg. There are also
    2 short-cut loops built into
    the trail. You will experience
    exposure at altitudes up to
    600 metres, and possible
    extreme weather
    changes.
    Again, be
    prepared.

Shall we have a poll, everyone likes a Poll?

Not sure if I can make this after all. There's a crew of us going for a weekend riding/camping trip the following weekend. I'll see what I can do.

Mate large parts were closed last year, for logging and have never ever been reopened... and are no longer part of the trail, its lost alot over the last 2 years, and isn't what it was :(

I'll still pedal what ever but its a lot more on the legs for most people as W2 is about 1000m of verticle and Skyline is 2000m but done uhm both with out fuss this year :)

Really you liek the black bit? not flowing or steep enough overall for my taste lol, black sections should have you pedaling, they should have you squeeling! :p

Nah its alright, can be a laugh bar the crap boardwalk bits.. they just seem a bit pointless to me :s

agreed on the boardwalk sections, board walk should be narrow and high from the floor this is neither

the black section is good but you have to really attack it to get you squeeling!
