I'm a design engineer in a large caravan manufacturer, Im trying to convince
the powers that be this would sell if given the chance.

Would anyone be interested in this idea.

A simple lightweight caravan with space for 2 beds / 1 double with simple
cooking and shower / toilet facilties. With the ability to extend and add on
side tents to make extra bedrooms whilst maintaining a safe location to
transport our bikes

If I wanted something like this I'd drive, so overnight the bikes can be locked in the car, and stay at a campsite with shower blocks.

But then I'm too young to want a caravan anyway

Good luck posting this in the CC!

We have a trailer tent, and I store my bike under the bed.

Surely you've just described a small caravan. Don't think it would sell to crudders as it seems certain posters prefer cottaging to caravaning.

Plus what bails said, I'd stay on a site with facilities rather than have a half assed caravan shower

    in a word No.

restricted top speed being the main issue.

very few places have camping. where would you keep it?

A Van now that is better. 70 not 55mph. parking a van is almost as easy as parking a car.

The ONLY people that will benefit is "eco-pikeys"
Why don't you make it super lightweight so it can actually be towed by gypos on bikes?
That way they wouldn't have to steal Transit vans

no, a camper van is so much better.

i like big caravans that i could just go to a site and stay in but towing one somewhere - especially on the roads through wales - would be a real ball ache IMO

i have a big tent that i can stand up in and walk around, it has 2 bedrooms and a little living area, i can pack this up and put t in my boot along with all my other kit.

sorry if this pees on your chips :? :D

    why would anyone buy a caravan in the first place, right lets look at this logically the only people who own caravans are;

a)old cnuts that cause chaos on bank holidays
b)Pikeys with AIDS (bad aids at that)

"normal" people buy a van and sleep in that if required, everyone else just buys a tent

think you have a resounding no from the CC

I'd buy one of those static jobbies! So they're not really a caravan as they don't really get towed etc.

As for that monstrosity above, i'd rather sleep on a lazy log then in that.

argh, statics are even worse. Some spazzwangle decided to build a caravan park down the very narrow, very twisty back lane that I have to use to work. They often have trucks trying to squeeze down there with new caravans to deliver, causing more chaos than a particularly chaotic thing.

I'm no expert on mobile road blocks but I don't really see how it's that different from caavans already on the market. But I know what I think of caravans, esp when they f*****g well hold me up. So for that reason, I'm out.

caravans should be banned as a public menace. And all owners burned at the stake!

But that's the fault of the spastic who built a caravan park on a twisty lane! Once they're on site they're a great alternative to them fabric houses which do feel like you're living in a crisp packet for the week.

Well, you may as well just stay at a b&b, or a hostel, then.

A b&b sucks as the old couple in the next room will no doubt get jiggy, which will make me throw up. And I fear getting raped in a hostel.
