Cavendish not as explosive as usual there, despite a perfect lead-out. Got the job done, though.

Cavendish reckons it was easy, but that was the closest sprint i've seen him win

Appoliono gets very low doesn't he.

Was thinking the same. very similar style to Cav. Thought he was going to get the stage.

Android boy made it a small cozy little sprint.
Cav was hardly likely to lose, after that armchair ride.
Apollonia not quite as close as it looked, from the overhead.

Fantastic win, but all credit to Sky- Appollonio was soo close.
Wonder if he's being groomed as Cav's lead-out man when/if he goes to Sky.

this is probably going to happen, isn't it?

Only in someones dream. Never say never but v.doubtful such a feat could now be achieved. Eddie was Eddie, a one-off and no-one had seen such a complete rider before

No, it's really very possible. His obviously in Pink, he's leading the points by 18 points (Petacchi's gone home) and he's one point behind the leader in the mountains.

The eight stages to come are four MTF's, a mountain TT and a regular TT - he's got to be favourite in all three.

(Jalabert and Rominger won all three at the Vuelta)

    Also, look at recent Giro's

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Giro_d%27Italia

Den won 2 of them and was 2nd on the other.

If Bert wins the race, he could easily take all 3.

Eh? MSR 2009 was MILES closer than that.

Looked real close from the original TV shots but to me the overhead view did show that Cav had a decent gap so 'easy' maybe not but was not harried right to the line wimnning just by a tyre. Very good sprint and signs off the sprinters stages with a win, his 2nd of the Giro and more than his rivals.

    Cavy! Aargh!

On the bright side, no more indecipherable interviews.

I do have to give Cavy credit though, he has an awesome sprint. It must be all that inbreeding in the Isle of Man that created a fluke homozygosity for fast twitch fibers.

Does that mean you're going back under your bridge until his next race?

I once had a "discussion" with Hunter about the nature of justice via twitter.

    That was very wierd.

If that didn't come about as the result of a discussion on doping ethics I'll eat my left leg.

Not about the quality of construction labour available in S.A then? I seem to recall that got him quite het up at one stage.
