At Mad Rapper's request.

Anyone else wishing this one away so that the stupid mountains can come?

Michal Golas (Vacansoleil), Stef Clement (Rabobank), Davide Ricci Bitti (Farnese Vini) and Miguel Minguez Ayala (Euskaltel) @ 2.50 ish.

And there's either a really big headwind, or not even the break can be bothered trying to get more than 3 minutes as it's pretty slow going.

four escapees. Dutchman Clement, 28, is making his second Giro appearance five years after his first, back in 2006 for Bouygues Telecom. His biggest win came in the Dauphine Libere in 2009. Golas, 27, is riding his first Giro. Spanish rookie Minguez, 22, is the youngest of the four and like the Pole is competing in his debut Giro. He has no UCI wins to his name. Ditto Ricci Bitti, the 27-year-old Italian also riding his first Giro. HTC still controlling the front for Cavy.

This season has to be the season where the peloton have kept a tight lid on breaks more often than not.

Brother in law and his family live in Ravenna, so asked them all to shout encouragement to all the Brits today on my behalf. Number 2 nephew will no doubt be proudly wearing his England footie shirt.

But the question is will my sister in law be shouting for Cav or, will her nationailty get the better of her and she'll end up shouting for Ale Jet?

You must feel great when you DS tells you to get into today's break and you know that the HTC train will be on your arse, all day.

Sprints aren't so bad... just the hours and hours that precede them.

I think when Contador wins all three jerseys (including GC by 10+ mins) and seven stages you guys might start wishing for a sprint finish.

At least a non-sprint stage has more chance of us picking a different rider for PTP eh?

So, you won't be picking Contador for tomorrow, or all the remaining stages?

I was looking at it today and was wondering if I should just write Stage 13 - 21 Contador, but I discovered one that he might not win!

Don't get me wrong, I like mountain top finishes, but this tour has quite a lot of them.

I've got a little ritual going for this Giro which seems to be paying off, so I'm not going to rock the boat now and ruin it!

Well, he is 3/1 for the mountains, but the others he is odds on favourite for. The implication being that he won't bother with the mountains which makes it a meaningless competition.

I like 'em because it means I get some time back in the evenings as I don't need to watch cycling.

Sorry - I was reading the live ticker and fell, asleep, into my keyboard. Could they not replace such stages with a 5km run-in and a bunch gallop?
