I was supposed to have my new BB bearing kit today and typical Trek UK have made a b@lls of it and given my order to someone else and now i have to wait until next Wednesday before they get a restock.
it's unbelievably frustrating to be waiting on one part and for delays to keep getting in your way!

I’m just going to finish the build and leave the crank installation until last

I just wondered, why did you get a long cage mech, wouldn't a medium cage be more appropriate? This is going to be a sweet build btw.

Needs some lighter wheels, and the blue will clash horribly!

How do you know it's a bit flimsy, nothing on there particularly light, they're stiff frames.

Compared to what i'm used to it is :)

but as i said its is a very nice bike everyone likes different types of bikes to ride. And i want to see full piccies for the colour scheme hehe

so where i'm at, is i'm waiting for a new Sram BB90 bearing kit to arrive after i have been given the wrong Shimano BB90 bearing kit

Good job, my experience of the Shimano press fit BB, is that they are crap, not good at all. Not tried the Sram, purchased the RWC.

It's not a press-fit unit like the Lapierres and what not, it's just 2 bearings pressed straight into the frame.

I killed a set the very first time I rode mine. The Shimano ones are normal bearings, the SRAM ones are a little more odd! Saying that, I had the ceramic ones last year and they lasted all year, and were only a bit knackered when I sold it!

i'm well aware of the colour clash.

I’ve stated it before in the other forums as I was getting the parts.. I had the wheels (I love the wheels) from the last build and the frame doesn’t come in any other colours.

So I’ve tried to put some blue throughout the bike, but I have options if “I” feel I can’t live with the clash, I can get the frame painted (I know someone that can) so red becomes blue. Crank Brothers are due to release a 15mm axle conversion kit for the Iodine wheels and I’ll swap them.

I’ll just have to wait & see

BB Bearings arrived in yesterday :) a nice surprise! the dealer forgot he ordered them from Trek US before Checking availability at Trek UK and never cancelled the order, great news for me
So hopefully I will encounter no more problems and will have it complete tomorrow.

Njee, the bearing are just press into the frame yeah, the only difference really in the Shimano kit and the Sram kit is the Sram bearing are thicker on the Non Drive side really

AFAIK you can get the cobalts in red 8) iodines would be serious overkill on that

The SRAM bearing has a wider inner race than outer race (or rather it did on my 2010 TF9.9), the Shimano ones don't. It makes getting hold of replacement Shimano bearings easy, I'm tempted to get some full ceramics, but SRAM ones are much harder to come by - as you've found.

    Thanks Guys

i was worried about the colour scheme before but the blue on the wheels along with the grips and cable nipples actually works very well

i have replaced the pedals with the CB Eggbeaters SL (blue) and looks much better

Pedals, tyres, saddle angle, and those wheels don't work for me I'm afraid!

Looks good otherwise though. Weighed it?

Changed the Pedals to the CB Eggbeaters SL (blue)
Changed the tyres to a lighter race tyre
Changed the saddle angle after a few rides

The blue wheels i still love but with the likes of the pedals, grips and nipples all incorparating a little blue, it really works for me, but then again i was never really the best with colour scheme, so my girlfriend tells me. i'm not allowed do any decorating in the house :)

weighted it as of the picture version and came to about 22.4lbs, wheels, tyres and frameskin are the cause of that

That's not too bad, as you say those bits will add a chunk.

Frameskin will keep it looking nice at least, mine's got so many scuffs on it, the paint is extremely thin!
