Hey guys
I'm just going to post a log of my new build, this is my second build & my first time was a long time ago and I slightly cheated and got a bike shop to do some of it. But I’m hoping to do this all myself.
After "MONTHS" of waiting (10) and haggling I eventually got my frame ordered (crash replacement for a Top Fuel 98) and arrived the other day. See pictures below.
Below is a list of the components I’m looking to put with this.
1. SRAM XX GXP Chainset 156 170mm 39.26
2. SRAM XX Cassette 10sp 11-36
3. SRAM XX World cup Carbon Mag Disc Brake Front & back 160mm with SRAM XX Mount Adaptor Front & Back IS 160mm
4. SRAM XX Rear Derailleur Long Cage
5. SRAM XX Trigger Shifter 10sp F&R Pair
6. Avid XX Matchmakers (pair)
7. SRAM 10sp PC1091R
6. Rock Shox SID XX World Cup - Tapered Steerer 2011, 120mm travel
I’m going to be using some old parts from my previous bike too that should be still ok
like the
1. Bontrager XXX Stem
2. Bontrager XXX handle bar
3. Crank Brothers Cobalt XC wheels
*** I posted most of this on another forum a couple of weeks ago I’m at the stage now where all parts have arrived but after a mix up waiting on a Sram BB90 as apposed to the Shimano BB90 i was given, so I can start putting it together shortly***

Crank Brothers Cobalt Wheelset Axle conversion 9mm QR - 15mm axle
These are the wheels I’m going to use from my old bike Crank Brother Cobalt 26” wheelset I had only ridden them for two month before the last bike went out of action
Given that the new Fork has a 15mm thru Axle the front wheel need to be converted from 9mm Quick Release to 15mm , luckily Crank Brothers do a conversion kit

I'm trying to Blend some blue through out the bike so the wheels don't stand out as much as they do already against the black red & white frame so i got the followings bits (not much i know but also thinking of blue cables)

Frame Skin frame Protection
think the first thing to add to the Frame has got to be the protection.
there is nothing worse than that first chip or scratch so I’m going to do all I can to minimize them.
so I got the Full Top Fuel protection kit from Frameskin.com (also got the kits for the XX Cranks and Sid Fork)
I have to say I'm REALLY impressed with the stuff, very easy to apply with soapy water and a hairdryer and is invisible from a foot or two away.
(more visible against the white of the fork)
But have a look at the pictures and judge for yourself.
Note added about 5-6 grams to the weight of the frame

Fork, Headset & Rear Brake hose installed
Installed the headset without any problems going to leave the length in the steerer tube for now and re-evaluate once fully built up and and see what needs to be cut off it
The Hose for the rear brake also had to be bolted down from inside the frame at the BB and headtube

i stripped the old tubes, tires, cassette & rotors from the wheels weighted them and then added the new cassette and clean sweep rotors

so where i'm at, is i'm waiting for a new Sram BB90 bearing kit to arrive after i have been given the wrong Shimano BB90 bearing kit
should be with me tomorrow and then just need to assemble the rest and get brakes and gear cables cut to the proper length and also cut the seat post but and the fork steerer
but should be up and running by the end of the week.. after almost 10 months waiting and planning i'm almost at the finish line0 -

Lovely build btw
the headset came with the frameset, it's called (i think) "Cane Creek IS-3 Frustum SE Light Edition E2 (tapered)"
Any trek dealer/distributor should be able to get you one0
