the saddle is an sdg galaxy. mine is the ti one which weighs 285g apparently and cost 45 quid from crc (i paid with paypal of course)
seems comfy enough but i will know better tomorrow.
i like the thinckness of the grips but they are too damn long so i am gonna try and cut them down a bit, if that fails, i will replace them with some normal sized inserts from superstar instead.0 -
Nice one cheers sheeps... let me know how you get on with it.
The standard boardman saddle is actually really comfy so it might be a purchase of form over function!0 -
decided to cut the grips down, the width is real nice, i reckon they would be comfy wthout gloves, but they are too long and look a bit odd if nothing else.
ric77: the heat shrink i used was 9.5mm reducing to 5mm if i remember correctly, i got it from ebay s ago and only just finally got round to fitting it.0 -
cheers sheeps
the edison is looking awesome, really liking the subdued grey colour with eye burning green detailing it.
those superstar excel grips are pretty awesome looking, might invest in a set of them to replace my once white (now sorta white/brown) sunline logo thicks.
to be honest though white is not really practical for grips or saddles.
looks so good though.Fancy a brew?0 -
That's very, very nice Big D, I approve wholeheartedly.0

well, saddle had its first outing today and i really liked it. its the first saddle ive liked since my 5 year old bbb saddle which this has replaced.
grips are not suitable for use without gloves though, my hands are a bit sore, i might go back to thinner ones, my hands feel "tired" which is a new sensation and i can only assume the thicker grips are responsible0 -
ooooh like the saddle, identical for to the spoon isnt it??0

its a tad shorter, a bit wider and a chunk heavier than the spoon, also its smooth, no seams so i wonder if it would feel different under ones buttocks, i havent tried a spoon so couldnt comment.
if i could have found a black and green one, i probably would have given a spoon a go.
it fits me really nicely, all of the other sadles i have tried have fallen short so litter my spares box and i have been using my battered old bbb for ages. i only chose it for the colours originally so wouldnt have kept it if it didnt fit well, but it was a lucky gamble.0 -
Funny you should say that about the grips. I've always felt that the regular SS grips are not suitable for use with grips because they get worn down too easily. If these ones are the opposite, I might have to give them a try at some point. Were they easy enough to cut down? I thought they had some kind of clip for the lock rings to fasten on to?0
-
easy peasy to cut down if you take some care.
i used a fresh scalpel and a sharpened carving knife.
the collars seem to do the job just as before.0 -
Good stuff!
Pedals - You should get some Techno Lime ones from Superstar
Failing that, get some white ones, and some Green pins (The green pins are darker green than the techno lime stiff afaik)0 -
i am toying wiht new pedals, i like mg1s so i think if i replace these i will get the white version.
thing is though, those SS ones look amazing.0 -
MG1s are lighter if that floats your boat. imho SS ones look better and they suit my feet better. I like the slimline look of those SS ones.0
-
Yeah i was a tad bit disappointed in the lack of pins on the MG1's... will see how they go.0
