I'll be taking the road bike so any ideas for 50mile'ish loop appreciated

cheers Bob

    lots of nice riding.
slightly underdistance, but have a look at the route of the snowdonia slateman tri?

[i have no idea why they map it on a publicly available website and then put it in a pdf]

    Bit under distance but:

Takes you through and up some very nice valleys and climbs. Road from Nant Gwynant up to Pen-y-Pass is a favourite of mine - like a mini alpine climb it is...

From my relatively limited experience of riding in N Wales, the better routes are a little off the main routes. E.g. Penmachno, Bwlch y Groes (a must do if you can get down that far and back!), Llanuwchllyn to Trawsfynydd. Hard to go wrong really, it's great riding country!

Try the main loop from this ride we did in our Spring training camp? Very enjoyable ride including some great hills, sea side views and some good fast flats.
