I have a Giro Ionos and must say the ventilation is outstanding but comes at a price as this helmet is by far the best Fly/Wasp/Dragonfly catcher ive ever had .......Cervelo S5 Ultegra Di2.0

I'm not ar5ed about weight! Protection and ventilation are top of my list!! (and price...)
Agreed. It'd be nice if there were a standard to compare the protection offered by different designs. Weight alone is a very bad metric on which to buy safety equipment.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

A bit nonsensical. It isn't possible to buy a helmet here on weight alone; they are all subject to standard safety requirements. Even if they weren't, weight alone would imply a small bag of tissue paper strapped to your head!
Of course, the US standards seem to be tougher so if you want the safest Prolight, get a US one which weighs a bit more. Trouble is, it isn't so much weight that seems to be determining the costs of the high end helmet but simply appearance. That really probably is the worst driver for making a decision!Faster than a tent.......0 -

Rutland Cycling have just emailed to say they don't have any Limar helmets. I freaking HATE it when companies advertise stock they don't have. Plus their 'customer service ticket' system to try and sort a refund is ar5e. It wasn't working properly so I tried ringing. After 10 minutes of being on hold it finally let me leave a message. I tried again and finally got through.
Won't use them again.
Sounds much like my experience with them. Phoned up and was told the item wasn't in stock but their suppliers had them and they could get it within 2 days. Ordered and paid for item then and there via their website.
Two weeks later there was no sign of either the item or and email update from Rutland so I called them and due to a "mix up" they hadn't even got round to ordering the part from their suppliers. I asked for lead time and was told at least another two weeks so I cancelled and asked for a refund. To be fair they refunded the money fairly quickly but I won't be ordering from them again either.0 -
I have just bought another Limar Ultralight 104 after crash-testing my first one last year. I got it from Winstanley bikes online http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/ for £87.99 inc VAT & (free) postage. They do Blue, Red, Silver & White in medium or large here or the 2008 model in blue medium only for £64.99 here. Both times I purchased their service was good.
I got size large & I was very pleased with the fit, very snug & secure. To those that are having problems; are you sure you got the correct size? According to Limar I have a big head! . Like others have said it's also very cool (temp wise) & is almost like you're not wearing a hat at all.
As for the crash-testing of my 1st one; I was assisted by a motorist who pulled out of his drive & into me. I landed on my head 39' away (measured by Plod). Ended up with moderate concussion & a night in hospital but I was very pleased with the way the helmet protected me.0 -
I've decided to go for the Spesh SWorks Prevail...0

Still on the search for a non-mushroom lid, Prevail didn't make the cut and the Giro's all look odd on me. Think going to take a punt on a Las Victory Supreme from Wiggle...0

Love my Giro Atmos. Perfect fit, comfy, light, great vent. Came with pod too which is invaluable as it keeps it from banging round and will also hold arm warmers, gloves and shades.Coupla Road Bikes0

Good choice. Bloody expensive but there isn't a better helmet. Lovely and light with loads of adjustability. Red, black and white looks the dogs. Well on me it does:-D
I can get a very good deal on it, thanks for the feedback!0 -
Spesh S works in medium - too small, in a large - too big. The Kask K10 - just right
Every helmet I've owned previously was Specialized - good quality, fit and ventilation. Their newer 2010 and now 2011 models don't seem to fit the same.
Fit is paramount for me. If you're wearing a badly fitted helmet then you might as well not bother at all, IMO.
The Kask K10 gets a massive thumbs up from me!“Training is like fighting with a gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the gorilla is tired.”0 -
If you're going to spend the money on the S-works prevail then I would be tempted to wait like 6 weeks for the new Giro to hit the shops.***** Pro Tour Pundit Champion 2020, 2018, 2017 & 2011 *****0
