Not managed to get out yet, some issues with the bike. It seems good quality and has plenty functions, can't grumble for a sky diver.

Aldi stuff is ok, especially for the training rides. I always look for the aldi and lidl sales. Both Aldi and lidl use the crane sports lable. Same stuff i reckon.

I didn't manage down until this morning - got a black/yellow softshell jacket and a pair of mitts.

Sizing is a bit strange - I got a extra large softshell. There were no larges left, but the medium was far too small. I'd have preferred the red one, but there were only smalls and mediums left.

Got some shorts - same problem with legs, may use as undershorts as I look daft in Lycra anyway

Got socks also, plus some 'compression' stuff which I'll use as a base layer in summer.

Jerseys and soft shells all gone in my size  that'll teach me not to get there on a Thursday

Anyone know when Lidl are doing their next lot? Handily, they are directly opposite Aldi in sunny Aylesbury :D

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • lidl done it a few weeks ago now, the next lot would normally be end of summer/autumn time

Clearly a lot of skinny thighed streaks of whatnot on the forum. Bought 2x s/s tops (L), 2x shorts, 3x pairs socks (9-11) and 1x bright yellow pac-a-mac (L). All fitted absolutely fine. The shorts fit the thighs perfectly. The pad is incredible quality for an £8 pair of shorts.

All in was £50. Can think of a better fifty quid I've spent.

The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is zip quality. Not sure the zips will last too long - Is there anything one can lubricate them with?

Cheers to the OP for posting this.
I would never have thought to look in either Lidl or Aldi for gear.

Got the track-pump, mini-pump, 2 pairs of socks, the jacket & gloves for the missus.
All fitted well (big shoulders, skinny arms).

Tottenham store had lots left when I was there & said they were keeping it until it sold out.

    Cheers!

What's better than the YKK Aldi use? That was always the problem with Lidl - crappy zips. Aldi use YKK and I've had no problems with them.

I had a look last night - Couldn't see any YKK branding.

The zips feel a bit "scratchy", like they'll start snagging before too long.

In fairness, they do seem a little bit more free to move now I've used the top and zipper a few times.

  • Got the computer working last night. A bit tricky to set up - magnet needs to pass very close to the bottom half of the sensor. but now works fine.
And you get temperature, and calories burned too if you put in your weight and age
Does daily averages - all automatic - no need to reset
And with 2 locking straps - fastens better to the handlebar than the cateye I'm replacing.

  • Tore my Giro gloves last week so picked up a pair of short fingered gloves in Aldi today for £3.49, wore them out on my Sat afternoon ride and found them very comfortable. If they last it looks like I might have saved myself a few quid as I was about to order a pair of Castilli gloves off Wiggle. :D

I've used a pair of them all last year during fingerless season. They are still fine. Bought a couple more pairs last week.

Gloves about the only things worth buying - used a pair all last summer & then on top of DeFeet dura's in the winter. Picked up a couple more pairs last week - I'd say they are comparable to £20 mitts elsewhere

    Lidl stuff is out tomorrow:

The tools are just too cheap not to buy, dose/has anyone ever used the chain cleaner?

The Lidl toolkit is the same as I bought from them last year, except then it was only £15! Cracking deal, though. The only flaky tool is the old-style BB lockring tool, evertyhting else is fine. Not seen the chain cleaner before.
