Hi - I expect that this has been posted before but not too sure how to search forums.

Anyway here it is

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/of ... sday11.htm

I have bought the Track Pump before and it is very good for a fiver, pumps up Prestas no problems.

I have also just bought one of their saddle bags which seems like good quality and you get a good quality multi tool, tyre levers and puncture repair kit - all for £5.

I have paid more than that just for a multi tool of equal or less quality!

I also bought a pair of gloves which seem OK - mainly because for that price it's hard to go wrong even if they break after a few months.

HTH

And sorry if this is a duplicate.

Tried jackets- rubbish. Arms so tight even on x large. And the chest felt like a tent.

    Only bought the mitts.
    Say... That's a nice bike..

I tried the mitts but didn't like them - seams in the wrong places... agree with Fr Jack about the tops, they are a really funny shape, chest size is out of kilter with the rest of the top

socks are good for the price, the shorts are decent enough for commuting or as liner shorts for mountainbiking under baggies, wouldn't want to do long road rides with them though

Bought the u/wear which is light & tight, which is pretty much what it says on the tin. Bought the mini-pump which looks a good piece of kit  Two heads and even a guage, only need it as a 'get me home' device but seems better than that. There is even a bracket to fit beneath the bottle cage. Had a good look at the s/s shirt, black with yellow trimming, quite stylish but I have enough shirts, honest.

I reckon you must be doing something wrong or the pump is faulty. Did you let a bit of air out once you undid the nut? A trap I always fell into before which I didn't know about - doh?!!!

The max on the Presta tyres I have tried it on is 6 Bar and I could easily go above that and blow the tyre up - if I so wished!.

My road bikes reccommended are between 6 & 8.5.

I suggest you try releasing a bit of air once you have undone the nut.

I know - stupid little thing that you will have no clue about - but it works!

I am tempted to get a pump at that price. TBH I was only interested in the multi tool / saddle bag at a fiver and the gloves at £3.50 - that has to be a bargain.

And judging by the multi tool and it's quality I wish I had bought another when you compare these prices.

    CRCs cheapest saddlebag -

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=10082

multi tool - 5 function - the Aldi 1 has 7 function and is Excellent quality and I don't work for em!!

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=7454

Wiggle is even more expensive for comparable products. I think CRCs cheapest gloves are £5.99 and that is if they have your size and colour. I am happy with my all black gloves for £3.50.

I am not too sure about the clothing aparrel cos I am not into all that. I think that the items I have bought and vouched for are excellent value for money.

+1 Bizarre shape - mine are going back (seemed ok in store!). I'll probably change them for some more of the short sleeve jerseys which are really pretty good. Also got a couple of pairs of mitts (same design as last year but the grippy gel looks like it will stick to the gloves much better this time!), a pair of socks, a lightweight waterproof and a seat pack for a friends bike.
    Faster than a tent.......
  • Grabbed me self some socks, a bargain for the price, the track pump, a pair of the gloves and the light weight waterproof.
  • I grabbed a soft shell jacket yesterday. Fitted me ok and I would say I am pretty normal cyclist shape. Oh well maybe not

Also got 2 pairs of mitts, one pair for the wife and the other for my daughter.

My dad got the seat pack and the jersey.

Tarmac Expert SL3 - test colours

Duped the missus into "going for a look at the Thursday deals" and then picked up the tool bag and cycle computer after saying "oh look there's some cycling stuff".

The tool bag is cracking value imo. I was amazed at how good quality the tool is. Even the fitting of the bag seems to be pretty good - especially compared to the velcro ones.

    What's the computer like?

I got the computer, gloves & bottle last year.

Gloves still going strong (although using the LIDL ones more at the moment - lower quality & falling apart but softer & more comfortable). Computer works fine.

Bit gutted I only saw this today - will probably miss out on some goodies now.

Got some gloves for the kids and wife (not big enough for me and I have several pairs already).

Got a track pump as a backup to my normal one as it was so cheap.

The soft shell, even in XL had sleeves so narrow that I couldnt bend my arm so no good unfortunately...

Got a few pairs of socks - dont really believe in special socks for cycling but I needed some and they are cheap enough to be silly not to.

Might go back for one of the saddle packs/tookits, cant decide.

There was not a single SS jersey in either of the Aldi's I went to though - not in any size, shape or colour - which makes me think they never had any in Reading? Even if they were all snapped up there is always the odd one or two in less desirable sizes but there wasnt even a price ticked on the gantry above. Wasnt bothered for myself but was looking for one for the missus and might have been tempted if I liked the look of them to get one for me too.

I notice some comments that the cycling shorts were too wide at the bottom, so might actually try a pair of these as I have given up on shorts with a gripper because they are always too tight at the bottom for me - so might be right up my street.

same problem for me - legs of the shorts have too much slack in them (perhaps they expecting sir chris rather than my chicken legs). other than that the fit is fine. i don't know how aldi do it - their stuff is ok in terms of materials but they must have some weird-shaped people they use for checking the fit!

It all seems to be Chinese made so I guess they are weirdly shaped?7

Then again, Aldi is a German company - and they are plainly weird.

I went in mainly to get a shoft shell long sleeve top, but these were far lower quality than last years version, which was best described as double layered on the chest with a better fit.

However the shorts and short sleeve tops seem reasonable quality and fit so I got those instead!

Picked up bag/tool kit, looks good for a fiver but spanners are a bit useless, don't think my bike has anything of importance held on by nuts.

Also light loop is a bit daft, with a light fitted it's pointing downwards!

New to cycling and on a strict budget so went in and got a couple of pairs of shorts and saddle bag and a mini pump. :D

Tried the shorts on when I got home and was really pleased that they fit well etc. :D

Having read the comments earlier in this thread about how the clothing only fits people with weird body shapes I will be spending most of tonight crying into my beer over my Quasimodo like stance.

Neither do I but I do have lots of hex key fittings, basically everything - so not bad at all.

My bag has a quick release fitting, velcro isn't involved,'[=

Matbe different stock with different stores?

Those shorts are an absolute disgrace. I bought some this time last year and were smashing, fit wise. I bought exactly the same size this year Female/Medium 28 ( i am a bloke) waist and they are huge. My thighs are massive and these come no where near close to being snug.

Sticker on the track pump itself says its rated only to bar 7, although the gauge goes up to 170. When I got it to bar 8, the grips, where the gauge is also at started leaking; and later the whole top section came off. On inspection, it looked like the thing had been stuck with glue and obviously not suitable for anything 90+ psi.

That's a shame, looked all right pump. As for gauge, MG metro dial went upto 100mph (probably)

I bought a few things but disappointed that the store (in Meanwood, Leeds) did not have delivery of the short sleeve jerseys or helmets first thing on Thursday morning. Don't know if they were delivered late but I doubt it - seemed to be just missing from the store delivery. My wife got a nice soft shell long sleeve top, and we got gloves and a few other things. Only disappointment so far is the lock as it doesn't work at all - at £1.95 not worth the petrol to take it back. I already have a descent heavy lock for commuting - just wanted a cheapo for locking outside cafes on the odd Sunday ride and the like.
  • lot of snobbery on here . the aldi stuff is great for the price ! go buy !!!

What is clear is that Lidl have caught up as far as quality is concerned. Good news all round.
