An amazing vehical but it was a Lancia which has to be one of the worst car makes on the planet :D
Wasn't the RS200 built by Reliant? Not exactly a well known manufacturer of quality vehicles. And the Metro was built by Rover. Again, hardly the most reliable manufacturer.

Fast forward to today's rally cars, and Citroen are absolutely kicking ars* and taking names, and again, they're hardly highly regarded for reliability,

The RS200 body was made by Reliant but the motor was Cosworth and iirc the car was prepered by Ford motorsport.
The 6R4 was built from the ground up by Williams GP team
TBF Lancia's main problem was rust and electrics and the Delta S4 was carbon fiber so that was one problem overcome lol

Great car but they are taking the mick in price - this one sold for about 2/3 of that price last year:

From memory they were about £50k new. If only my Ford held it's frikkin value like that

Being a 1989 modle will have affected it's price as they are the EVO versions iirc
Didn't realise the distinction between original and EVO TBH - so you're saying that the newer, faster car is also the cheaper one? If I have a spare £100k or so burning a hole in my pocket, then I know which one I'd buy....

The orignal is that price because of how rare it is, it's like buying a Rockhopper comp and replacing all the bolts with Ti one's it doesn't make it worth anymore all though the owner would tend to think so 8)

Pretty sure it was Williams as the stock car and rally car share hardly any technology infact i think it may have only been headlights, windscreen, maybe the roof and doors

I don't think even that much was shared between them, but that doesn't mean Williams built it.

Metro 6R4s were one of the most "meh" of all Group B cars though, despite looking like something from a scifi film.

TBF though the 6R4 only competed in 6 or so races before group B was banned so no real development was made :(
The Lancia Delta, on the other hand, hit the ground running, so to speak. Awesome machine, from an engineering standpoint.

pffffttt... not as awesome as the Stratos!

Yes it was. Far far FAR more awesome than the Stratos. It was a fire breathing hellbeast on wheels.
  • I don't agree... but i'd have the Ford over either anyways :P

My mate has a various rally derived fast fords... mostly Escort RS2000's.. and a Siera RS, and a Cosworth or two... (he has LOTS of cars... not that he's rich... he's really not, but he buy's them cheap and uses his not inconsiderable skills to make it good and beautiful once more.

but THAT is on a different level, absolutely, stunningly, jaw droppingly awesome. (notice I didn't say beautiful, it's not, it's ugly as anything, not quite on Fiat Multipla terms though) What I wouldnt do to have/have a go in one of those.... awesome, awesome car.
