Who do I know that can give me the cash?
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
  • I bet that number plate is worth a fair few quid too.

I have to admit to having a smug smile on my face but the body shop i used to work at did all the work on Ron's cars and when he moved from the old garage in Spring Veiw, Wigan i helped him move stock to the new site at Up Holland (it's classed as Skem but it's still Wigan) and i had the plesure of reversing that very car out of the showroom and onto the low loader he brought in just to move that one car. Wish i could have driven it the few miles but hey ho at least i got to drive a peice of motoring history, i'm just supprised he's selling it as he turned down a 200k offer 7/8 years ago :?

You sold the Marin for a Stumpjumer so your opinion doesn't count  :P

nice to see one with such low mileage. The engine will only last 10 hours of "enthusiastic" driving!

It's a 1980's Ford. So it's ugly, plasticy and will probably break down a fair bit.

Yet despite this, I want that car badly. And I'm having trouble explaining why to the girlfriend too

for the money i dont want it, i think its a bad investment, but i am a northerner so may have to relive this from their forecourt pretending i want to buy and i and rag the shizzle out of it!

alternatively i wont but looks like it could be quite quick!

£125,000 for something that fookin ugly with reliability and panel fit that makes a 1970's British Leyland car look good?
Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

Great car but they are taking the mick on price - this one sold for about 2/3 of that price last year:

From memory they were about £50k new. If only my Ford held it's frikkin value like that

It's a strange one for me, yest it's ugly and yes it's a ford but at the end of the day it was a car from 1984 with a 1.8l turbo producing 250 BHP and a 0-60 of 3.275 seconds (although the 0-60 car was the EVO). It's a shame they had to ban group B rallying because it'd been great to see what they could have done with this beast of a car given developement time. For me it is an improtant peice of auto history and considering that there were only 200 ever built with 90% being basterdised to get them upto 600BHP so to find a completely stock model with such low milage is well a bargin because lets face it you only buy this to put in a museum

Another peice of rallying history is this bad boy the Metro 6R4

Being a 1989 modle will have affected it's price as they are the EVO versions iirc

Didn't realise the distinction between original and EVO TBH - so you're saying that the newer, faster car is also the cheaper one? If I have a spare £100k or so burning a hole in my pocket, then I know which one I'd buy....

It's the rarity of the originals that bumps up the price.

Amazing car and when 6R4 are testing during the week i always make a point of trying to keep up with it on the estate  did you know once group B was scrapped Jaguar took the remaining 6R4 engines modded them to a twin turbo and used them in the XJ220  It shows just what could have been capable had group B not been banned.
Noteable mention has to go to the Audi Quattro which kicked modern day 4wd rallying off

Metro 6R4s were one of the most "meh" of all Group B cars though, despite looking like something from a scifi film.

TBF though the 6R4 only competed in 6 or so races before group B was banned so no real development was made :(

I've never undertood why people spend so much money on body then decide they'll fit it themselves. I saw some shockers when i was doing my apprentaship, please leave it too the pro's it'll look 100000000000 times better and will stay attached when going over speed bumps.
Once we did a mk3 1.6 iirc auto golf for an 18 year old lad, he bought an ill fitting kit and we went to work cutting it to fit making mounting brackets, debadging etc etc but £2.5k later he had a slick looking black golf that looked the buisness but was still an automatic mk3 golf :?

The Lancia Delta, on the other hand, hit the ground running, so to speak. Awesome machine, from an engineering standpoint.

An amazing vehical but it was a Lancia which has to be one of the worst car makes on the planet :D I almost bought a crash damaged Delta Intergrali HF about 8 years ago for £2500 but when i went to look at it the chasis had twisted in the crash so would have needed a complete reshell with a new rear axel so would have cost waaaay too much to get sorted, the plan was too make a Martini replica fully stripped out with roll cage etc etc

I did get to do a Castrol Celica gt4 rally rep though for one of my mates that was putting out around 315bhp which he managed to smash up within 3 months :( He didn't even get the chance to show the car at any events

Wasn't the RS200 built by Reliant? Not exactly a well known manufacturer of quality vehicles. And the Metro was built by Rover. Again, hardly the most reliable manufacturer.

Fast forward to today's rally cars, and Citroen are absolutely kicking arse and taking names, and again, they're hardly highly regarded for reliability,
