We've had German Shepherds for over 12 years. Sadly Tasha died last October and Fanto (her brother) died 2 weeks ago.

We picked up a German Shepherd girl from the local dogs home this week, very underweight at 26kg and her claws were at least 2 inches long which caused her problems walking.

Took her to the vet yesterday, claws clipped, eardrops for mites, booster and worming tablet.

Now just need to feed and exercise her well to get her up to a healthy 35kg. We've named her Lola.

He made himself at home within minutes. Last night I fel asleep on the sofa and he fell asleep on top. Really sweet little cat.

Richard, he's a little beauty. Miss6899 reckons you should call him Maverick as he looks as though he has a few tricks up his sleeve!

We have a cat, Winifred, and I/my parents have a JRT called Milo and a cat called Maud. We're hoping to get a friend for Winifred, a little Tom called Jens (after the one and only).

Belgian Shepherd, Manchester Terrier (a right pain in the arse) and 4 rescued guinea pigs in a big run in the garden. Why I got another terrier after the last two died I will never know.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

Also, a blonde german shepherd, a great dane, and a doberman. Oh and a murderous cat, 3 chinchillas, and 2 fish that look like piranhas but aren't.

Ah - great thread and am loving the photos.

We have a flat coated retriever - Hobbs. Friends of ours live right down at Lands End and bred their dog for "fun". They had 6 girls, 2 boys and we went down when they were tiny and chose our dog. We then picked him up a month later at the end of a JOGLE and it made me forget my aching legs instantly. He's just lovely, we have had a little girl since getting him and he is good, but a bit jealous - when she is in bed at night and I'm sat on the sofa, he'll come and look at me until I sit on the floor so he can get on my lap and have a cuddle. He weighs 35kg!

Amazing what a difference a dog makes to your life - we love him a lot.

If you need a dog with a deep section but UCI compliant aerodynamic section (3:1), I recommend a minature dachshund.

    Well.
We have two horses, two cats (one as per avatar), two goldfish (one actually white), eight hens and one of next door's cockerels.
When we got the hens (ex-battery) they looked scrawny like this :-

We chucked th cockerel out twice but he seemed determined to move in so :-

Historical one here. This mog was mine. Caught after the act having licked clean a yoghurt carton left on the floor leaving the 'smoking gun' of the spoon dangling from the cat flap magnet on his collar :-

He used to spend most evenings asleep on me. If my wife and I swapped places he would come in, settle down on her, realise his mistake, get up and move across to me. Daft as a brush but irreplaceable.

+1 Grew up with a collie called Kep. Her Dad was a proper working sheep dog, Kep amused herself by attempting to round up cars and humans.

I'd love a dog, but really don't agree with having one in London.

Nothing wrong with having a dog in London per se, it's only a problem if you're out for 12 hours per day with the dog alone at home... We looked after Angus for 8 months and he was alone between about 8.30am and 6-7pm ish, however we had a dog walker who took him out for a couple of hours between around 12 and 2pm ish, not really ideal but we had no choice. If someone's at home all day then it doesn't matter if it's London or the rural outback.... You don't even need a garden, we have one but we barely ever let Angus out there as we weren't sure if he'd escape. If you want a dog and only have a small flat in London then just don't get a Great Dane or something...

Henry our Border Terrier - he's 11.5 weeks old so we've only had him for a week and a half but he is already firmly part of the family. He'll be a very well travelled dog given that he is the Le Domestique Tours mascot so he's going to have a fantastic life playing in the mountains and showing all the French cats and dogs who is boss!

Great photo UndercoverElephant - he looked like a smasher!

I posted some months ago about Lola (our rescue GSD), we got her up to a healthy 34kg (from 24/26kg skin and bone), sadly she broke her leg in December and then 3 weeks later had a massive fit which she didn't recover from.

We now have Max (age 11) who we took on as a rescue in October and Stitch (a bitch around 6 years old) who came to us a couple of weeks ago - both GSD's.

I forgot to mention that we have Sinbad the tortoise who is currently hibernating in the greenhouse - how could I have forgotten him, Mrs Benno has had him for over 35 years!
