so looking at taking a little trip to France in the summer, between June and September, I haven't been to France since I was 4 so 20 years ago. We want mountains, pyranees or alps not bothered, wheres the best place to go, fly or drive? Prices? We're just looking for the cheapest possible cycling holiday. Any and all tips/advice welcome.

Cheers

Sorry for being so vague

unless you want big hills to climb Provence (inland not the coast) is good. Remember everywhere will be HOT -even Brittany - at that time of year.

A stay near Lourdes gives you good access to Pyrenees eg Argeles Gazost. Or stay near alp Dhuez in the alps gives you loads of famous climbs. We camped in a litle village nearby. Very convenient and comfy.

Thanks guys, what would ya say is the best way to travel, drive down? Would camping be the smartest option? Or hotel/b&b?

Cycleadfiction site is down, what is it?

    Thanks

Always found camping in France clean comfy & value for money. If you don't have a tent many places have small cabins or mobile homes/caravans for hire. And I'd drive so I can easily take my bike with me...

The coast roads of Northern France and Belgium are nice, you don't have to go far to find some decent roads.

Drive and camp for sure! The real pleasure of france is finding random off-the-beaten track places and being able to setlle down for a few days to enjoy the area. I'd aim to head down to the Pyranees via e.g. the Loire, Gascony. If you're feeling keen you could even head over into spain.
