Holiday in Wales: Checklist

About to go on my first MTB holiday for a week in Wales and trying to make sure I have got all the spares I think I might need for the trip.
So far I have the following.
Pads
Innertubes
Lube (wet and dry)
GT85
shock pump
glasses
I have changes of mtb clothes covered along with full wet gear if it does get nasty.
Can anyone suggest anything else?

I always carry a mini chaintool, mini multitool, and a spoke tool too. As well as a puncture repair kit (1 spare tube + puncture repair kit has not let me down yet in years of riding)0 -
+1
i once got 4 punctures on 1 ride around afan!! i had a spare tube but without a puncture repair kit it wouldn't have been fun.
you got a bike lock to lock your bike up when you're not using it/at night?0 -
I've never made it round Penmachno without a huge hissing puncture!0
-
puncture kit is a must along with tubes been caught in afan a few times with flats.
snacks for the back pack aswell, plus multi tools and chain tools if you,ve got a spare tyre chuck that in the car aswell just in case and duck tape and cable ties lol.
where you planning on riding iv got 9 days off and doing the same??0 -
+ Phrase book. They talk funny out that way.
And don't forget they drive on the other side of the road.0 -
I went to wales for a week at the end of March and tool literally everything (spare parts/tools/kitchen sink etc) just incase. I didn't use most of it (the bike didn't break or even get a puncture despite doing around 30 miles a day) but it was more for peice of mind than anything. One think I should have taken though is a first aid kit (recieved a nasty gash on my shin due to slipping off the peddle)

I don't carry it all with me (just multitool, innertube, pump, patches, water, garmin) the rest stays in the car.
I do like to go prepared though0 -

I prefer durex, but there you go.0

I'd take a spare mech hanger too. They take up next to no space & it will make all the difference if you need it.
I also carry a selection of spare bolts (including spare cleat bolts) & few feet of gaffer tape just in case the worst should happenStatistically, Six Out Of Seven Dwarves Aren't Happy0 -
a couple of cable ties and a spare gear cable are always handy0

Dont forget your car...that would be a bad thing to forget0

Are mech hangers universal or do you need one specific to the model of bike or mech?
I assume we are talking about the rear derailler so if I have a Shimano RD-M772 Deore XT Shadow, long cage ... will I need a particular part?

Definately a spare tyre. A friend needed one after 6 punctures at Brechfa. Luckily the chap on the bus cafe was happy to give him one in exchange for 45 quid. And some beer.0

From a previous post, it may be an idea to take something to remove sheep ticks. Either tool or lighter.
If you're camping, take a warm sleeping bag. As it was 20+ degrees last week, we just took a normal summer sleeping bag. C-Y-B get bloody cold at night. So much so tgat the condensation in our tent froze.
Zitronella candles and stuff to try to minmise the midges/mossies that want to eat you0 -
My brother forgot his sleeping bag last year. I only had a liner bag to give him. The news said it got down to minus 2 that night. For some reason he thought that taking his socks off would help. It didn't.
His riding the following day was rubbish. A good night's sleep is essential if you want to get the most out of your trip!0 -
I keep a "standard" set of stuff in my Camelbak when I'm riding, especially riding alone or at night, it may help jog your memory :
Two inner tubes
Tube patches and repair kit
Tyre levers
Tyre patch kit
Multitool including spoke key + chain tool
Spare spoke nipples
Spare gear hanger
Spare chain link (removable link eg Wippermann or SRAM)
Long cable ties
Spare batteries as required
Basic first aid kit (large adhesive dressings + bandage)
Pump
Wet wipes for my specs (in small sachets)
Phone if I'm in an area with coverage (usually not)
Food if I'm out for the day
Hydration
Most of this can be made to fit into a very small space but they have got me out of trouble a number of times, either myself or others.
Finally, check your bike over and make sure your multitool can undo every bolt or nut.
