Heavy legs?

Went for a 60 mile jaunt last Sunday, not particularly fast or arduous and my legs today Friday are still very heavy. The only biking I've done is a 17 mile loosen up on Tuesday. I had thought that just giving them a rest would help but maybe there is something else I can do?

Get out on the bike again. See how you feel. Either just cruise around or if you feel ok after warm up put some short hardish efforts in. Legs might just be stiff and need blowing out a bit. Also are you drinking enough? I went out a couple of weeks ago and didn't drink anywhere near enough and my legs felt heavy for days.0

I agree with just on getting on your bike and going out, with the aim of going real steady, with a good cadence for a couple of hours.
An easy ride will freshen the legs, however if your legs still feel awful during the ride, it indicates that not all bodily systems are go. If it's the latter, concentrate on a 24hr period of quality healthy food with a good nights sleep.
It works for me.Plymouthsteve for councillor!!0 -
Many people find getting out on the bike the day after a hard ride for a gentle spin aids recovery. You might find that after a few miles your legs feel less heavy....More problems but still living....0

on a rest day i like a long walk seems to loosen things up without adding any excess load. probably same effect as a recovery ride.Death or Glory- Just another Story0

+ 1 for getting on the bike.
Do a light spin/recovery ride the next day if possible. If not, do it the day after but do it.
It helps my recovery a lot. I like riding, reheating the legs then stretching them afterwards. I usually end up pain free after it.0 -

Your post answers the question "The only biking I've done is a 17 mile loosen up". Sixty miles is a long way even if it's not at pace. I often get this reaction after a rest, also if I don't drink/eat enough. Both combined as I recently stupidly did and I almost collapse off my bike.0
