Contador Strongest Ever

"Contador is the strongest rider I've ever had on my team, and that applies in comparison with Tyler Hamilton, Ivan Basso, Carlos Sastre, and Andy Schleck. Alberto is of the same caliber as Eddy Merckx, Lance Armstrong, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain," said Riis to Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"He's a fantastic climber, because he's simply an animal in the mountains, and in the time trials, he manages to almost pull off the same power."

No waaay.

Riis would say that given he needs to sell Contador to a skeptical Italian public ahead of the Giro.
If he was selling a used car he'd say it runs like a dream, that the price is a giveaway and how it's probably the best motor he's had after 20 years in the trade.0 -

but we'd all know it had been 'clocked'0 -
Had he been chewing on beef jerky before he set off?Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
I RIDE A KONA CADABRA -would you like to come and have a play with my magic link?0 -

The aren't sceptical anymore, just fuming.
They see Clentador swanning around winning races, while the UCI procrastinate on CAS, yet their curly headed one gets a CAS KO'd for effectively 3 years off a set of dodgy stats.
If CONI get their hands on him, it will be Pitiful.
The Giro won't see the Spanish cowboy for dust. Come May, he'll be hiding on his favourite Spanish beach, working on a stylish tan."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -

I thought "comebacks" were where you retired and / or took 3 or 4 years off?
In any case I've come over to your side and am now ready to love and worship Alberto. Can you give me a few hints on what type of shrine I should build for him? Marble or granite? What does yours look like? :? :? :?0 -
Build the shrine out of plasticisers.0

If he makes it as far as The Giro or The Tour without getting banned and wins then you can get all excited. Winning the Tour of Murcia doesn't quite cut it..."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

Which is, of course, his tried and tested preparation for winning the Giro.0 -

Technically he can't come back until he's actually been banned, which hasn't happened yet.
I don't deny he's talented. It doesn't matter how many Brazilian steaks I eat on my visit to rio this month I'll still never be as fast is he is.0 -
I loved this quote from the linked-to piece:Bjarne Riis wrote:Contador is the strongest rider I've ever had on my team, and that applies in comparison with Tyler Hamilton, Ivan Basso, Carlos Sastre, and Andy Schleck. Alberto is of the same caliber as Eddy Merckx, Lance Armstrong, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain
(Just in case anyone gets upset, this isn't a comment on whether or not Contador might have eaten tainted beef, just the silliness of the list of comparisons in the context of Contador's recent issues)0 -

Why didn't you put Merckx' name in bold?0 -
Anyone got Riis's number? I'm flogging a far from mint 96 Lada Samara that isn't shifting. I reckon a wee bit of his magic sales patter will have me beating the punters off with a stick.0

I just tried to go for the most obvious ones to make a point, which I thought was funny. But you're right, Merckx was banned & let off at least once...0 -
does anyone really care?0

I can only assume that FF finds my opinions less valid as i've only posted 800 or so times, I gues i'm a lightweight rather than a champion..."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

What FF is alluding to, is that people who don’t spend hours posting on an internet forum, and therefore have a low post count have flawed opinions.

does post count on bike radar count, 'cos my post count on 'other' fora is in the 10's of k's.
if you add all my forum posts up I must easily be over 100 k posts.
and my emails,
I've made thousands of text messages too, and phone calls!
What about all the letters I've written?--

I'd suggest it's the other way around.
i.e. the more posts you have, the less of a life you have therefore, your opinion is less likely to be balanced (see my recent posts for a classic example of unbalanced rantings).0 -
So.. If AC takes part in Le Tour will he actually win a stage, seeing that he is the "strongest ever"? Me thinks he will dishonour the MJ like he did last year. Some champion :roll:0

I've changed jobs and have been trying to avoid this forum, to keep the post count down. Oh well...0
