Back on the bike.

After 16 months off the bike with 2 bulged discs i've ventured back into the saddle. Been out twice and have done 10 mile on both occasions but during and after each ride i've noticed a severe pain in my left hip. I tried to do a bit today and managed 3 mile before i had to head back home.

Any ideas folks, bike set up hasn't really changed in those months laid up bar a shorter stem --90mm from 100mm.

Any input would be great, as i'm seriously thinking of just jacking it in.

I would seek some medical advice on it just to be sure it isn't related to the disc problem. My brother had an operation on a disc and sometimes has pain in his arm still, and is advised not to do any heavy lifting ect, but he can ride his bike as he used to (fairly short rides) without trouble I think. Which discs were causing trouble( high or low)?

I think as long as you can be sure it isn't related to the disc problem then its probably just the usual aches and pains you will get over.

Make sure the hip thing isn't a back issue in disguise! And lift your stem too to see if the additional height alleviates the hip problem?
