Wilier Le Roi proper carbon racer
Principia old racing bike, used for good weather commuting and long day rides
    Norco Vesta foul-weather commuter
    Kona Dew Drop light touring
    Centurion Eternity old commuter

always considering something, but a Rohloff bike for touring would be nice, and a Custom Ti Audax bike to replace the Principia...

Just a carrera fury which handles my mtbing and commuting with a tyre change. I feel very poor all of a sudden, I am poor but that's beside the point

MTB bought in 2004 for general use which I started commuting on and is now a spare.
CX bike I bought after about 7/8 months commuting which I've tweaked into a road bike
    SS/Fixed CX bike for commuting.

    3 is a good number.

10, too, but only in binary.

    A worn-out old Trek hybrid
    A Giant SCR1 road bike

The hybrid gets a lot more use, neither gets much care or loving.

    Road/commute:

    Bianchi Via Nirone C2C
Old Reynolds steel framed Raleigh circa mid 80's
    Singlespeed 1992 Kona Lava Dome

    MTB:

    Dialled Bikes Prince Albert 725
    Specialized Big Hit 2005
    Specialized SX Trail 2006

Spare frames waiting for an opportunity to be built up:

    Dialled Bikes Prince Albert 520
Dialled Bikes Prince Albert 520 (yes, a 2nd one)
    Merlin Malt 1
    Specialized FSR Enduro 2001
    FCN = 4
  • 4, soon to be 3ish

Cube Attempt - road bike (105/Ultegra)
Marin San Anselmo Alfine - commuter
Raleigh steel MTB - picked it up for nothing, currently being converted to a single speed for quick nips to the shops (it has horizontal dropouts)
Gary Fisher Nirvana steel MTB/Hybrid - 14 years old, recently retired from commuting duties, donating parts to the single speed. Will probably keep frame and wheels in the corner of the shed considering I would get next to nothing for them if I sold them.

That is just about my limit in terms of shed space (there is 1 other in there for the wife). I might get rid of the singlespeed after a while and get a MTB instead.

2 and a half for me.

    Giant Defy 3

    one Bike shaped object

Giant Defy 4 (wrecked in a collision, hopefully build something from the salvagable parts)

Looking to buy a bog-standard hybrid to take to uni in October because the Defy 3 would get nicked pretty quickly...
    Giant Defy 3
    FCN 5

All wrenching and no riding makes me frickin' angry...

Hoping to add a Sunday best bit of carbon and a Tricross or Genesis CX single speed

  • I feel so much better after reading this thread. I have 3, I thought 3 was daft, but it appears 3 is the minimum possible.

I started with my 27 x 1 1/4 Puch which was built in the 1980's - I bought it in 1997 and have done thousands of miles on it. I have, however, changed loads of components but it is the same frame! (Story about Trigger on "only fools and horses" had the same broom for 15 years - changed the handle 4 times and the head 3 times, but its the same broom)

Next came my Specialised Allez 09 - which loads on here list as a commuter or a winter hack - for me it is my expensive posh road bike

Bike no. 3 is a recent addition Jan 11. It is a Kona Firemountain 09 I bought 2nd hand and hopefully have just about got it set up and working right.

    Four and a half.

Falcon Olympic, circa 1973. 531 plain gauge, 27" wheels. Spare in case of problems with:
    Bob Jackson light tourer, c. 1971, 531DB, canti/v-brake bosses to allow700c. Commuter
Holdsworth, circa 1980. 531C(?) Sunday best occasional ride, rather too small.
    Brompton p-type 6 speed, 2009. Alternative commuter.

Mercian King of Mercia, c.1985. 531C, rather too large, and currently hors de combat with a broken gear-side rear dropout and a siezed stem, which I've attempted to saw out 'cos I keep forgetting to buy some ammonia.
Ceps, morelles, trompettes de mort. Breakfast of champignons.

    3 here as well.

Kona Jake the Snake (daily commuter)
Marin Rigid MTB (Snow bike and commute backup)
Trek Top Fuel (For more serious offroad riding. :) )

Only thing that stops me getting a 4th is the reworking of my kitchen necessary to store it. ;)

Good thing I've got all of them is well. The Jake is off the road until I can replace one of the jockey wheels on the rear deraillieur, and the Trek is is awating a replacement freehub.

Just finished converting the Marin back to slicks and sticking the snow stud tyres in the cupboard until next year.
