    3.
    Road: Allez 2010
All rounder hardtail: Kona Fire Mountain 08 (could live without)
    Full Suss: Kona Coiler 06

    Want to add:
    Carbon Roadie
    Brompton
  • Just the three. Mrs. Elephant tells me that three should be the minimum if I'm commuting every day. I married well.

I actually have four, if you count the old BSO mountain bike I first started commuting on. I don't.

    5 at the moment:

    - old RockHopper; workhorse/shopper/bike I use when I might need to leave it locked up in public
    - old road bike; currently on my turbo trainer
    - new road bike; carbon fibre goodness
    - Tricross CX; usual commuter
    - new Rockhopper; off-road shenanigans

I'm thinking of adding a folder to the stable.

    10...

    Mixte
    Old Commuter
    Shopper
    SS
    Another SS
    Tifosi
    Maxima
    MTB 1
    MTB 2
Rather crappy folder that I never use.
  • that Orbea is lovely

It is too. Rides like a dream, fast and fun. The frame is likes I've not seen before, internal brake cable routing, the lot.

I must say that the others get ridden a *lot* less than the Orbea. 4000 miles I've ridden on it since I bought it in June last year. Bought it off eBay for not a lot, when it arrived it was like brand new.

    Planet X Carbon Road bike
    Scott Sportster Hybrid

Looking to replace the Hybrid with either an alloy framed drop bar tourer + rack (perhaps based on an Uncle John frame) or a nice vintage opa fiets.

    Or both...

One. Just one. It's my bike that I ride to work, in sportivs, to the farm, anywhere. One is great. I'm always on my best bike, not putting up with something not as good just because it rained some hours ago or whatever.

Oh and a hybrid that Boy Sr seems to have claimed for getting to school. Go on son. Get in there.
  • 3 1/2

    Raleigh Randonneur - main commuter
Thorn Sterling - Rolhoff hub gears mtb/expedition bike
Custom designed titanium thingy - had frame made in some Chinese sweat shop, handbuilt touring sheels, mainly ultegra level components.

oh, and a folder that is really the wife's but I have used more especially when needed to drive part of the way or use PT.

    1 3/4

Fixie Trek belt jobbie, winter hack that hasn't turned a wheel all winter 'cos the Trek is so much fun to ride (and is becoming a parts bin) and the Mrs' Felt Curbside that gets the seatpost raised in extremis.
FCN 5 belt driven fixie for city bits
CAADX 105 beastie for bumpy bits
    Litespeed L3 for Strava bits

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

4 if you just count mine, currently 9 if you include the rest of the family. Need a bigger shed.
  • Gaspipe special for everyday commuter "resistance training", guards, rack and all that crap.
Vulcan for the woods and trails (soon to be rebuilt on a bigger frame) - love this bike.
New 2nd hand Carrera Valour - how have I survived so long without a road bike? Mind-boggling sensations.

I can turn it up to 11. 8) (not sure which one is more appropriate)

The first 7 are entirely justified

BMC SL01 - Good road bike
Athleticum Zip Road - Everyday/winter road bike
    Giant Bowery - Fixed
Axman Carbon - For touring/heavy commuting
GT idrive - full suss mountain bike
Decathlon Vitamin - fitted with studded tyres for the snow
Specialized StreetStomper - My first proper bike, now used for dog walking duties

After that I struggled to justify any more. But i bought them anyway:

Red Bull full suss carbon mountain bike - cos its nice and sooo much better than the GT
Planet-X Nanolight - cos it was such a bargain
Charge Plug - cheap and cool
Colnago Master X light - My girlfriend spotted it at the back of a bike shop (second hand), good price and it just seemed rude not to.

There are also 2 very old bikes that we inherited with the house, rod brakes etc, similar to a swiss army bike. But i've not got round to fettling them yet.

I appear to have a bit of an addiction. I just can't stop looking and thinking hmm thats nice
