Dealing with speed bumps and uneven roads

I try and get out with a very fast Tuesday evening chain gang. There are a few sections which are on very rough roads with some big speed bumps.

The other riders dont seem to loose any speed over these, but I always struggle. Being failry light, if I pedal through, I bounce off the saddle and my bike rear wheel actually lifts off the ground.

My question: Is there a technique to riding fast over speed bumps and potholes. Is it best to momentarily free wheel or just power through?

Any advice welcome, as I often find I then have to push hard to re-gain the wheel.

Thank

I did a crit race on a carpark circuit, which had a number of speed bumps per lap, I found it easier, and quicker, to slightly lift yourself out of the saddle, not much, just enough to take the weight of your backside, and "take" the bump in your knees and eblows, just let the bike ride over it, while you still keep pedalling.

Doesn't seem to make a great deal of sense in "text", but it worked for me.

Exactly. Stop pedaling and get out of saddle and absorb bump, then start pedaling again.
