Almost time for a new mobile...

Even Nokia are dumping Symbian on their smartphones in favor of Windows mobile.
Iphone - overpriced bling for gullible fashionistas
I like the look of the Motorola Defy. As a mountain biker who carries a phone I would want it to be tough and have the features I like in my current xperia x10.
Personally I think Android is the way forward for smart phones but if you want to keep it up to date with the latest OS version don't get a sony ericsson.0 -

Other than Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung have symbian handsets.0 -
i genunely dont understand what is so wrong with symbian, i know on paper it isnt as high tech or whatever as androd is and windows but physically, day to day, what effect does it have?
this kind of argument reminds me of photography folk who argue about or judge the quality of lenses based on their lab tests regardless of the quality of the images they produce.0 -
really? Oh. I didn't know that.0

Apart from that, it's just a fashion thing, really. Symbian is fine, just a little clunky.0 -

see, thats what i think, i think it is fashionable to want the latest OS even though there is nowt wrong with what is being replaced, especially with regards to a mobile phone, which lets be honest, isnt the most complicated bit of kit in the world is it.
i think the thing most people are talking about when dishing out judgements on phones is the ability for you to put apps on your phone, android and apple phones are the best at this because they have the most apps so everything else is rubbish and instead of saying this, folk talk utter nonsense about all sorts of theoretical changes they can make with their phones but never will.0 -
I completely agree, sheeps. Until I saw windows phone 7, they all seemed to do pretty much exactly the same thing.0

Symbian is unpleasant to use. Simple.I like bikes and stuff0

Mine isn't. I guess that is personal preference. And what we are used to - having a go on a HTC Wildfire wasn't the most pleasant experience I have ever had.
I think for my needs the N8 is the way to go, the fact that Symbian may not be as well supported is neither here or there for me given how I am going to use it.0 -
just for information, symbian is being dropped by nokia in favour of windows 7.i ride a hardtail0

If it's an upgrade your data plan etc shouldn't change... you're just renewing it. I upgraded my phone last year and the T&C's are exactly the same. I've only changed them by talking to customer services. It's only if it's a new contract. Unless it's all changed now???0 -

Yeah the upgrades with o2 don't seem to be the same any more
Now you basically get a "better deal" on a new phone but keep your number... or so it seems.0 -
Just been and played with a few phones.
I'm 100% set on the windows phone... they're just so.... nice!
I liked the HTC h7, but the contracts are crappy.
But I liked the Omnia 7 more lol. The good thing with the windows phones is they're all exactly the same software, so all you have to choose is the type of phone you want lol!0
