Quick Release Skewer sizes

Hi,
I have not been able to find information on the net anywhere.
I have a Shimano rear hub on my rear wheel which came with a quick release skewer and worked fine with my previous Gary Fisher Wahoo aluminium frame.
I have now built up an On One Inbred/456 - the rear wheel fits in fine but the skewer is now too long.
How do I know what skewer size I need? Where do I measure? Is there somewhere I can find out what skewer size I need for the frame?
Thanks in advance!

just cut it down.
some frames have thinker of thinner drop out than others."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

^^^ wot he said; I did that with a Ti skewer ... but measure twice before cutting!!! :?
too long is not a prob, it is when they are too short.0
