I thought on the whole the route was excellently signposted apart from one wrong sign on the return to burgess hill pointing the wrong way. Always one
Cob lane was a real bitch we were (mis) informed by a couple of guys that we had done all the bad hills and up pops this one!
And as on-yer-bike said the way the start (and chips) were set out I think it kind of broke everyone up so there were no groups. And after 40 miles our small 'group' (no bigger than 5 at any one time) broke up and the last 30 were solo.
I thought the rough roads just made it a bit more important to chose wiser lines on the road (I like that sort of thing) but the bumpy wet thin lane with a mud and gravel central reservation was not fun.[/quote]Up: Wilier Mortirolo

Agree with pretty much all the above. Good route, good fun, roads were poor and the regular bumps into Burgess Hill were a real PITA (metaphorically and literally!)
Missed Gold by 2 mins which was a shame but I didn't leave anything out there so happy with my ride and still 40 mins quicker than last year.0 -

Judging from some of the above comments SRS Events are going to have to invest in a tarmacadam machine, alternatively the council could send out their own tarmacadam machine and look after the roads.
Still it's not quite Tour of Flanders but then again it shouldn't be anywhere close to that anyway. :?
As soon as we find out where you can write in and complain to the council about the state of the roads we will pass on the information.
We could have changed the direction of the course and in fact we did in places due to road conditions but a lot of the roads away from major traffic are still in a state of disrepair all over Sussex and Kent.
We hope the positives of the Springtime Classic out weigh the negatives and that you will all be back next year . We work really hard to make the event as good as it can be, but perfectly smooth roads is not something even SRS Events can muster just yet.
YET being the operative word, we will be working on this issue.
SRS Events next event the Eastbourne Cycling Festival Cyclosportive 22nd May

The best feed stations outside the Marmotte! Savoury and sweet snacks put the Hell of the Ashdown to shame.
Agree with all comments about the state of roads and the lack of big groups to cycle along with (interested by the suggestion the necklace timing device might be responsible).
A few moments where extra marshalling would have been useful...particularly the descent into the river (were the photographers there to take photos of riders swimming?)...but generally v well signed and a nice event.0 -
Video of the Springtime Classic now up on the website.
