it was a good sprint - seen in person, they had a tight right into the complex, short straight, then right with a drop to run 500m to the line - great work and timing by Goss to ease ahead with 20m to go.

killer climb at 70km with 5 away at the front and then a split pack and a hairy ride downhill back to the outskirts of Muscat. Marshalling and road closures v good, course was wild, access to the riders brilliant, chat with Sky afterwards really good (esp Downing) - Cavendish as miserable as sin - what a poor ambassador for British Cycling and the sport

Bit jealous of those climbs you have in Oman, makes for more interesting racing. We get the wind (in Qatar) you get the hills. Must agree with you regarding access to the riders, great to speak to them before and after stages. Russ Downing is one of the most down to earth blokes I have met., was happy to chat to me and my mate straight after the final stage in Qatar (mind you he did finish quite well that day). On that last day in Qatar our club organised a run using the same route as the tour. As the 50 or so of us were lined up for the start, me and my mate at the back, Cav pulled in right beside us and said he'd rather ride with us. So hes not always miserable.
  • I feel for Bennati but his consistency must be applauded.

    Two 2nds, a 3rd and a 4th in Qatar.

Two 2nds so far in Oman.

I really hope he can bag a race soon.
