First Ride this year - 8 weeks till 100 mile event

Today was the first time since beginning of December I have managed to get outside on my bike. Its been a combination of the weather and family circumstances that have stopped me but today had all morning to myself and saw that the weather in Leicestershire was good when I woke up so got the bike out of the garage and off i went. Only intended to do 30 odd miles but felt good with the sunshine on my back and managed 51 miles in 3hrs 26 mins. Not a particularly quick time but well chuffed with the miles covered and all on my hybrid.
I purchased a new road bike just before christmas but have not got any shoes for it yet as I need some spd shoes.
Glad I was on the hybrid bike though as the roads are still full of crap and pot holes (hopefully some of these will get filled in before spring - not holding my breath though). Also I know if I can get some decent miles in on the hybrid then hopefully the road bike will feel much easier and faster.
So have 8 weeks before I attempt a 100 mile sponspored ride in Peterborough .
