Decent Fitness testing - recommendations?

hi, for some time my wife has been keen to get a proper assessment of how fit and healthy she is. Although I guess I can quite easily (if expensively!) get her a BUPA "well woman" checkup/medical, the "fitness" components of these seems to me quite "box-ticking".
To be blunt, she's capable of going for a run, doing a full on spin class then a one hour boxing circuit training class, she's done a number of 10k runs, she's cycling the London-Brighton this year and she can do squats with me sat on her shoulders......... yet if we do the traditional BMI calculations, she'll get a score suggesting she's well over-weight.
Does anyone have any recommendations of places (London) where we could get a more thoughtful and precise measure of fitness and target weight that the rather superficial analysis that's more readily available?
If I'm barking up the wrong tree, please say, but hopefully someone can see what I mean
Thanks!

If my wife could do a squat lift with me on her shoulders, I wouldn't feel safe in the house.0

Your wife sounds like me - fit, strong & with good endurance and for an over 50 probably rather rare in cycling 260km sportives etc. BUT BMI has remained steadily over 25 (just) for years. Her active lifestyle should be enough reassurance but perhaps she wants numbers. I don't know of anywhere specific but perhaps a good coach would carry out tests (there are several named on here) or a university physiology department.
hope you find somewhere!0 -
I did one with www.sportstest.co.uk. I think a few others on here have done the same. Dr Palmer is excellent - very thorough and does a good job of explaining what he's testing and the results, including body fat measurements (which are pretty ruthless - i'm 6ft and 12 stone and I was told to lose 10 pounds just as a starting point!)0

Surely its easy enough to work out if she is in fact overweight or not without worrying about some generic formula? If she's muscular (which I guess she must be if she can do squats with you sat on her shoulders) then forget about the formula. Does she have significant fat reserves?More problems but still living....0

Blimey why did he suggest that - surely being just over 11 stone at 6ft would be under weight. This means I must be severly over weight then at 6ft 1" and 12st 12lbs but this is the fittest and lightest i have ever been and already get comments from the missus about being too thin !0 -
Just off the phone to Dr Palmer at Sportstest. Really helpful chap - thanks for the recommendation!!0
