Hi Guys,

The Cyclemeter iphone app has just been updated to allow the user to import maps to the app. They prefereably should be gpx files but can be kml. Is there a way to convert a google maps route into one of these formats and then open it up in Cyclemeter?

Cheers

    Google maps routes are kml........
  • Oh Ok, has anyone imported them into cyclemeter yet? I have followed the help section in the app which states to click on the maps link in safari or an email and it will ask what you want to open it in, but it just opens straight up in google maps.

    1. Firefox: Drag the following link to your browser’s bookmark toolbar.
    Internet Explorer: right-click on the following link and “Add to Favorites…”
    This is the link: GMapToGPX
    2. Go to Google Maps and get some search results. Here are some to test with:
    * Driving Directions
    * Driving directions with multiple destinations
    * Single Address
    * Local Search (style 1)
    * Local Search (style 2)
    3. Click on the GMapToGPX bookmark in your toolbar.
    4. A GPX file should be displayed over the map. Copy and paste it into a file on your hard drive. (Save it as a plain text file, using Notepad, TextEdit, emacs, or whatever your favorite text editor is. If possible, save it with the extension “.gpx”, but “.txt” ought to work, too.)
    5. Load the GPX file into your GPS or mapping software and see what happens.

    What browser are you using? I use Firefox, make sure Javascript is enabled. Once you click the bookmark you'll get a page full of XML (looks pretty random if you don't know what your looking at). Copy and paste all of it into notepad, save it as a gpx file.

    What a useful bit of software. Thanks for the link. :D
  • I am using IE 7. I click the bookmark and the following message pops up

    'GMapToGPX v6.4g (ERROR)

    There doesn't seem to be any extractable data on this page.

    If there is, but it's not detected, please visit the project homepage and leave a bug report, including a link to the page you're on right now.'

    Java is enabled.
  • Please ignore me i wasnt opening the bookmark over google maps.

    I have the text displayed and saved in notepad as a gpx, how do i now transfer this to the cyclemeter app?
