Sorry Dieseldog, in answer to the question. Which I think is what songs make you 'emotional'. Shadow Of The Sun by Paul Weller always chokes me up. No idea why. And Back To The Old House by The Smiths. Makes me think of where I grew up, bit of a dump which they demolished but I loved it. Sleep well.0

My Dark Star....Suede
Obsessions...Marina & the Diamonds.

If we're talking about songs that make me feel emotional then it's got to be .....
Johnny Cash doing the Nine Inch Nails number.... HURT.... it gets me every time.

Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah, curse X-Factor for making this song over played :evil:0
-
Silent Night - every time0

Ken Boothe's version of Everything I Own - I think Bread do the original - the guy wrote it as a tribute to his father - I think the lyrics are very moving especially when you know it's what he wishes he'd taken the time to say to his father before he lost him - and then the simplicity of this version of the song just seems to go well with that.

Plainsong - The Cure (in fact, anything on Disintegration will do it)0
-
bit embarrased by this one -seasons in the sun, the original dont know who did it :oops:Death or Glory- Just another Story0

Only songs that have made me blub are live performances of Tell Me It's Not True in Blood Brothers and Bring Him Home in Les Mis, more down to the superb performances and context in the show than the song itself.0

As for doing "it" then it would be This City Never Sleeps by Eurythmics as it brings back memories of Kim Basinger "entertaining" herself in 9 and a half weeks :oops:0

Not the kind of "it" I was referring to but I like your thinking! :oops:0 -
I heard a bit of neuroscience on the radio a couple of years ago about how memory works. Apparently, memories and music are stored in the same parts of the brain, so that a tune heard again many years later can re-kindle all the feelings you had connected to an old experience but without you necessarily recalling the detail of the events themselves. In this way music can subconsciously trigger emotional responses that you can't explain easily. So, no need to be sheepish about what sets you off.
Anyway, in my case, "Us and Them" by the Pink Floyd renders me to a near liquid state every time I hear it.0 -
Slip Away by Bowie off Heathen.
In Your Room (album version not the rubbish single remix) Depeche Mode.
Are You The One That I've Been Waiting For? Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.
All slow burners (excuse the Bowie) but build over the course of the song. Just going for a listen to Songs Of Faith and Devotion now.Trying Is The First Step Towards Failure
