The Whippets look great. My wife is seriously considering one as a lighter weight frame than the Epic she currently rides. All the girls she rides with seem to have switched to carbon! She has a singlespeed sliding dropout One-On that she likes the geometry of, so this seems the obvious choice.
Forbsey, I see you are bringing your bike along to Farnham Malting on Monday, make sure it is shiny as she wants to have a look at one first before taking the plunge.
Have any of you ridden other carbon HT frames? I just wondered how it compares. The mud clearance looks very good.0 -
Jason.
The bike is going to be spotless for Monday so no worries there. It is as good as any hard tail I have ever ridden including ones three times the price. On the value to performance scale it is a 10/10.
See you Monday.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

It was good to have a look at the Whippet last night, thanks for bringing it along. How long had you spent cleaning it? It looked like you had never ridden it
In the flesh it actually looks better than in the pictures (and I think it looks good in the pics too). The finish of the frame seemed very good, and certainly not much different to my carbon Scott Scale frame which cost a few pounds more...
I think Lou will be definitely be getting one now.0 -

The frame comes up really well. That has done two months of hard winter riding and racing. I take it off road nearly every day so to come up that good is quite impressive. Nice catching up with you last night at the "Love your Bike". Let me know if you get a whippet and post some pictures.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

That is a very nice bike 8)0

Can this bike run with a triple chainset with the granny removed. I'm looking to get one and build it up with a Truvativ crank.
I'm getting back into racing this year with the Eastern Region Series so think this will be a good bike for racing. Especially at that crazy price. Hoping to get the bike at around 20-21lb.

Yes you can run that setup you asked about. I have a SRAM XX double front chain set and it works very well. The bike with light wheels will come in around 20lbs easy.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

Cheers for the reply Scott, I was looking at getting the XX from Jenson maybe as it's a good looking crank. Glad to hear the bike builds up light, will probably go with Stans/Hope wheels and Race King WC tyres.
Glad to hear the seasons prep is going well. Not like mine, I've had chickenpox which has meant no training for 3 weeks.

With the build you are talking about a sub 20lbs bike will be easy. I am getting the summer race bike put together next week and have been chatting to the guys up at On-One. We are shooting for low 19lbs, maybe even a little under.
I will post lots of details about the summer race bike when we have put it together.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

stunning. absolutely stunning. XC race bike of choice.I like bikes and stuff0

Obviously rides well Scott as you bagged the fastest lap of the day at the Black park XC race on Sunday at 12.53
Nice bike what I saw of it.0 -
It is a very fast bike. Accelerates super quick and handles brilliantly. I am still amazed at how little it costs. You could literally pay three times as much for a frame and not get any more advantage from it. The only thing that wasn't going too well at Black Park was me. Too much training and not enough rest.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

Does anyone know if the 8mm stack FSA CE headset works on this frame or any other headsets. Are they the Campy headsets with 45 degree bearings.
Choccy..."Now I don\'t want to cause a kerfuffle"0 -
Yup - should fit, It just uses a flat top cap rather than the 15mmcone.... thats what I'vbe got in mine, bought it from On-One at the same time as the frame

Also does anyone know if the MRP 1x chain device fits, the FD mount version.
Got the frame and forks on Friday. The frame showed up as 1420 on my scales without the drop outs mounted. My SID RLT's were 1475.
Still think it'll be a lot lighter than my other bikes. Just waiting to get all the other parts now.
First go will be Eastern Region Round 1 race.

I have managed to get my summer racing whippet down to 19.7lbs so a very competitive weight for a race bike.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

I've seen your thread, can't believe the weight of those wheels, are they stiff enough for racing. How much of a difference is the weight while racing, must add a few watts I'd think.
I'll check your blog on Monday to see how you get on.

One other question, what cassette ratio do you use with the 42-28 crank as this is the one I'm looking at. My current XTR and Stylo cranks have 44-32-22 and 11-34 but I rarely use the 22 unless I'm in Wales. The 32 works well during races so would a shorter ratio work better with the 28 of the XX crank.

The rear block is the SRAM XX 11-36 with covers nearly everythIng the uk can throw at it.
Now the wheels. They are about as light as you can go and are weight limited. They say 90kg rider weight but that is pushing it a bit. I run non-tubeless tyres ie stand ones but with stans solution I can run them tubeless. The tyres are about 450g and with the light wheels it makes the bike feel very fast.
Rotational weight is where you want to shed the weight as you have to accelerate it each time you want to go forwards. It is the biggest saving you can make on a bike, totally changes the feel. Always get the best wheels you can afford. Hope that helps. I'll update the blog later today.Follow me on twitter: @OnOneScott

That sounds good, I'm probably going to get Hope Pro 2's with Stans Crest rims and try to run my Race King WC 2.2. Managed to mount them to a set of Flows on my other HT, hope they're not too wide for the Crests. They come in at about 460g on my scales. Would love the DT 190's but don't like the price. I'm down to 70kg now so weight shouldn't be a problem just my aggressive riding style to sort out.
