Just seen this :

Any merit to it? I'm a regular cyclist but anytime I've had a doctor measure my lung capacity(?) with the thing you breathe into very hard they've been surprised I can't get it higher.

From what I understand it allows you to breath at a higher rate without getting as fatigued, it doesn't increase your actual lung capacity apart from being able to squeeze more air out faster but whether that allows you to get more fresh air in is beyond me.
You have had a peak flow test, having asthma I am very familiar with them, they even gave me one for home so I could monitor myself. What numbers you getting on them?
I do have one but I need to get back into using it.0 -
I bought one the other year but never got round to using it regularly. However the last couple of seasons my breathing has been poor and when I could not blow the children's balloons up at Christmas I decided to start using it. One is supposed to inhale on it for 30 times however even on its lowest setting I could not manage more than 5 times. I will try to persist with it for a few weeks to see if I improve.0
