I had an Actros for a while - weak clutches. Went on me on the A46 North of Leicester. I was even mentioned by Sally traffic. Damn thing went again in Stroud. Very comfortable but I wonder if they have sorted out the clutch problem.

Talking of bad drivers. The season of goodwill has definatley ended. Was crossing the road today in 'toon' - its two lanes in one direction. A car to my left was indicating and slowing down for a space on his/her left hand side. In the right lane was a guy in a micro car trying to get around the car slowing down. Perfect opportunity for me to cross then?! Nope, overtaking car was going through that gap as if his life depended on it. Banged the side of his car with my hand and he stops. I stood large as he got out of the car. I said nothing and just stared at the fokker. He got back into his car and drove off. Mindless b****rd.

    WTF!!!

Don't get me started on lorry drivers, the vast majority are c0nts!

The number of lorry drivers I see on they A14 driving towards Flelixstowe port on the phone, at least the Audi wasn't 30?odd tonnes.

Does not matter how much the vehicle weighs he was breaking the law.
As for mass majority of lorry drivers are c*nts i agree, but i would say that about most of the people on british roads
regardless of what they are driving or riding,be it caravan, motorcyclist, car driver, lorry driver, cyclist the list goes on there are good and bad with them all.
Even pedestrians, they will run across the rd rather than walk to a crossing which could be 10ft away then wonder why they get hit over.

    The whole argument is b*llocks.

A driver who has one type of car one day and another type of similar power, size, speed etc the next, does not materially alter their driving style and approach.

Not all brands attract the same mean would-be owner - transferring Mr X between cars is an unrepresentative construct.

Take hot hatches back in the day- some had a reputation for having a high proportion of thrash and crash owners (XR2, T5 turbo) whereas others (Golf GTi, most obviously, with a higher proportion of older & female buyers) had more mixed/muted reputations and I seem to remember the insurance data backed these stereotypes. These are cars which are very similar in performance and size but by capturing slightly different parts of the market the expectation of how they were driven differed - and while perception may have exaggerated the trend, it was backed by a (much more subtle) statistical reality.

I would be very, very surprised if this doesn't carry over, to less and greater extents, to just about every brand and model on the market. Obviously pointing at a guy getting out of Car Y and going "ah, Car Y - I see you are a dangerous driver" is boll0cks but "I perceive there is a small likelihood that you're more dangerous than average driver" may not be...
  • Bloody Hell! I never thought I would have to post on this thread, I hate stereotypes, they are stupid and meaningless, BUT, today!!! On a pleasant shopping trip to the local 'market town' , 25k round the back lanes normally quite relaxing, did some shopping and returned home. Unbelievably I was cut up, imperiously blasted at, saw an old lady nearly 'taken out', and had a blazing row with one driver!! AND!! they were all different Audi's. This is definitely a first and a record for me on any ride.

A lot of lorry driver issues are foreign drivers, mostly in LHD cabs. Got clipped by a polish truck back in the summer, while in a traffic queue not much damage, probably not much more than my excess which is pretty high on that car. Despite the police being on scene due to another similar accident, and me having copies of all his paperwork. My insurance are saying they cannot trace him and its UK drivers who will be picking up my bill via the MIB.

having researched it, it seems this is the standard Eastern European scam pulled off by the foreign insurers.

I seem to be a cock because I drive a TT, yet I give the car's width when overtaking and on a narrow road will stop if possible when a cyclist is coming the other way.

    Still, obviously a cock!

    For me the worst drivers
BMW - generally have the iq of a turnip
Porche - big pockets crave attention
    Subaru - wanabe porche drivers

Anyone wearing a baseball cap while driving.

Forgot about the coffin dodgers in range rovers.
