Which is the hardest Dragon ride or a marathon

I've got a friend (no honest I have) who is contemplating doing a marathon in April, then with only a few months bike training doing the Dragon ride in June(??). He has a small run base and is starting training for the marathon now.
I think it's suicide to try and do something like the dragon on two months cycle training and a base of run training. How hard is something like the Dragon ride for a novice with very little specific training?
I'd normally say a marathon is harder but in this case I think the Dragon ride will be harder, thoughts?
