i was done for the exact same thing about 6 months ago. but i knew the speed limit in a van so didn't really have a leg to stand on0 -

If he then goes on to NOT steal it, where's the harm?
Ach, you know that's not true. It's like noticing the police have put up a sting operation to catch bike thieves, then warning the thief.
It wouldn't have helped me to be fair, when people flash their lights at me I get all confused- "are my lights on? No. Should they be on? Am I on fire? Is there a child clinging to the back of the car? Has a bike fallen off the roof? Am I speeding? Am I going too slow? AAAAAARGH" so I'd probably end up speeding past the camera crew then driving into their van.Uncompromising extremist0 -

This is me all over. I might take note in future. I always get paranoid that there is something wrong with my car.0 -
To be honest i think it depends on what speed camera's are for.
If you listened to the transport guys, it is not to catch us out or make money but for road safety. If people think there will be a camera in a spot they slow up, so even if the guys have been flashed and not incurred a fine they realizse there is a possible camera in that area and are more likely drive saefly in the area.
If the camera's are there to make money and convict drivers, then the driver was wrong.0 -

I thought you had a Honda, not a BMW?
Audi drivers are the new BMW drivers. BMW drivers are now awesome because Jeremy Clarkson told me so and I'm a sheep.0 -

It's not one or the other though is it? If you catch and convict a speeder, are they likely to speed less in future? The numbers say yes, though IMO they're not good stats. But if you flash a speeder and he slows down then doesn't get caught for it, does that have the same effect? Doubt it.Uncompromising extremist0 -

Fair enough, but i think you will find people will only slow in the area they were caught, and i slow in area's i know there are speed patrols so if i've been flashed and there is one there i'm like to be steady in that area going fwd as i know there is a chance of cameras0 -
