Which is shocking really, as wiggle have a poorly designed website, very little choice in stock and aren't particularly cheap :?

    who are superstar ??
superstar components, they produce their own branded components in the middle east ship them over here and sell them online, without a middle man/distributer. Really good products at VERY good prices! I own a couple of superstar bits (a chain guide, brake pads, pedals) and all are very good. Their customer service is great as well.

I buy quite a lot of gear online. wanted something from CRC for Christmas but it was out of stock. Plumped for the email me when back in stock option, it came up trumps and arrived the day after I paid for it. Ordered something else with no realistic chance of a pre-Christmas delivery and there it was the next day. Faultless service in the week before Christmas. The only problem I have with them is that they have so much gear available that I get it in the neck for hogging the PC!

Really, they sent me some else's order, then when I phoned and was told they would send the right order to me, it didn;t happen and the liar on the phone had done nothing abot it  And the woman I have been dealing with via email has been slow and doesn't seem to at home with their own t&c,contract, consumer law or the data protection act. And if it isn't sorted today I fear I may have to take legal action

Chain reactions products are good and they are cheap, but if something goes wrong they are hopeless and will lie to you, you need to go on at them and keep checking and even then don't rely on thm to get it right.

Before anyone says anything this has happened to me on a few occasions, usualy because their packing department sometimes seems shambolic, but seriously they should really sort out their customer service, I still use them though because 9 times out of ten they are fine and cheap

  • I found they're customer services to be pretty good when i was sent the wrong frame. I rang them up and they sorted out for it to be picked up the next day and then sent the proper one out as soon as it had been picked up.
Yeah it was annoying but they sorted no questions asked.

I guess it is going to be a bit hit and miss with such a large retailer.

I've got a job to do in NI in the new year and I'll probably be driving over. So I hope to take some time out and go to CRC. I'll probably end up spending a fortune!

So far never had any problems using CRC, only gripe is that it takes about 1 working week for the products to get delivered to me, but its still free delivery.
When a desperately needed hub repair kit went astray I had to order a second time, both turned up a few days later, but it seemed to me that it was good old Royal Mail who messed up with the first delivery as they had stuck about half a dozen bar code things all over the packet..
Every time I go out, I think I'm being checked out, faceless people watching on a TV screen.....

I bought some kit for the other half as xmas presents and none of it came in any original packaging. That wouldnt have bothered me if it was for me but its always nice to get a gift in the original box.

Appart from that they are pretty good.

    Whyte 129S 29er.
  • ordered a computer, tyre and tube and a box containing the latter 2 but the computer missing - emailed complaint and I'll let you know.

Happy New Year by the way!!

they do that to save on postage. I'm not really that bothered personally. If having it in the original packaging meant paying postage I'd be p*ssed and tbh, probably wouldn't buy from them.

EDIT- I can see what you mean if its a gift.
  • Got to say I've had nothing but excellent service from CRC - they're usually really sharp on order turnaround times and never had any probs with anything bought from them.

Emailed them at 8pm last night as had changed my mind about buying a torque wrench that I was waiting for to come back in to stock. Asked for the refund to be put towards some new shoes and gave some voucher numbers for part of the difference. By 4pm today had an email confirming dispatch of the shoes. Props where it's due, that's some good service.

Never noticed re. the packaging but makes sense for the p&p. Can't argue with free!

CRC often sell OEM stuff which doesn't come in retail packaging. That's why lots of their stuff is cheap. I'd rather have the money than the packaging.

I suspect that is correct. They probably wouldn't be removing items from packaging as that takes time and money. They must by in such bulk, much of their stock will be OEM without retail packaging.

However, everything I've purchased from them recently came retail packaging (i.e. SRAM derailleur, SRAM cassette, Cyclo Pro cassette socket)

CRC have beek ok for me apart from a few issues, ordered some new disc brakes, when they came one was OEM with some parts missing. I contacted them and they said if I returned it they would send out a non OEM brake, which they did. Recently I ordered a new 2010 Easton carbon bar in their sale, when it turned up it was a badly packed OEM 2009 bar! I sent it back for exchange and recieved an e-mail a few days later saying that they had refunded me as per "my instructions"

I ordered the bar from elsewhere, a bit more money but at least I'll hopefully get what I ordered, I don't mind buying OEM stuff but I think they should at least state it on the web site so you know what you are buying. :?

Always had good experiences with them myself. They were great when I accidentally ordered 2 frames instead of one, it had already packed and was marked as shipped in their computer but they went and checked the dock and it was still awaiting the courier so they could still stop it. Very good that. And fairly good handling of the warranty replacement mmmbop too- not perfect, it could have been faster and while they were deciding whether I could have a replacement, they sold their last one in stock. But still, that's a minor complaint, it was still a pretty good service.

Oh- and in case anyone stilld oesn't know you can get cashback from Topcashback from CRC and Wiggle. Looks like a scam but actually works.

Is unpackaged stuff always OEM? As far as I was aware, with the volume of stuff they buy from distributors they don't bother with packaging, probably for reasons of shipping costs (both there own and the customers') as has been mentioned.

I've had nothing but good experiences with CRC themselves. Even when it came to getting warranty repairs on parts I'd bought from them done in Sweden. The shipping companies they use is a different matter though. Schenker, who are Parcel Force's representatives in Sweden, are notorious for mislabelling stuff when it enters the country. They lost some forks I ordered once for 3wks. We knew where they were (in a post office about 100km from me), but they said it was up to me to go fetch them as CRC had written the wrong address. I complained enough to Parcel Force that they were eventually forwarded to me. When I peeled off Schenker's incorrect address label, the original had my full, correct address on it  I've never used CRC's free shipping since.

Give them a call or an email. Generally pretty helpful.
Although a set of tyres I bought, and received, in 2009, is still showing on my account as being 'processed'.

I ordered some tyres from CRC on Christmas day and they arrived on the Friday, ordered some more that evening and they came on Wednesday so I don't think there is any issues with their dispatching at the moment.

Had a chat with my postie Friday, said he was full of flu and was probably going to go sick. No postman at all Saturday, they park their van opposite my house so I know no one turned up. Too much fuss to deliver mail on a Saturday.
