Breaking news. I have ridden my bike on the road.

Footpaths were lethal here last night so I looked out of the window first thing to plan my days biking (actually, just 18 miles to get me within a mornings commute of my 10,000 mile target for the year - beer time Monday night ). Clear lines of frost on the road so I waited til midday before venturing out on the road bike. Think I'll be on the studded mtb for tomorrows big commute.....
NapD - hope you get better soonFaster than a tent.......0 -

Ar5e.
And there was me trying to meekly keep my "chin brake" attempts quiet. It was horrendous around Congleton yesterday. I completely underestimated the conditions and paid for it big style. The forecast said overnight temperature lows of -1 and I reckon it must have been closer to -5 or more to get those conditions. The road I came off on was like glass all the way up, unfortunately I came off on the first corner so I didn't get time to appreciate that.
What galls me more is that it happened after 2 miles. I'd rather have got a 60 miler in and had the accident on the way home.
Be careful out there! :oops:0 -
Don't they grit roads in Cheshire, it looks like a week on the turbo whilst I am up there this week. Don't fancy hitting the deck.0

Tried to get out yesterday morning, but no joy - tried 3 different routes and all slippy (even the coast road), so after 5miles of pissing about came home and opened my Christmas pressie from wife/cycleops, only to fall on my ass dismounting - note to myself - get a mat!!0

70 miles at decent pace round Devon on Saturday - no ice ... if there had been, I wouldn't have bothered. The last 20 miles weren't the most comfortable - a combination of a couple of weeks without decent rides, and the onset of yet another cold.0

Yes you stay on the turbo
NapD glad you're okay, take it easy after all it's the right time of year to be resting.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.

Got 5 miles out from house yesterday morning, confronted by lane after lane full of frost and ice, felt front wheel slide out twice but managed to correct it. Tip toed home very slowly including a nerve wracking descent when I was convinced I would hit the curve at the bottom and come flying off.
Can see December being a complete washout0 -
Managed 58 miles yesterday around East & West Sussex. All A and B roads were fine. Most smaller roads were OK, but some of the shadier ones still had a fair amount of ice on them.
Great to be out again though!0 -
Managed 20 miles today on newly converted 'winter bike' 1st time out for nearly a month, roads not to bad but still rode with caution, wasn't going to win any medals or anything, hardest part was the 300 yards out of street - still icy and slushy, but main roads were ok, bloody pot holes are back though!! Hope to get out later in week before the next lot comes down.0

Looks like it's turbo time AGAIN for me today. I can't bring myself to do a 3 1/2 hr sesh on it though so I'm chickening out and doing an hour at zone 3. The long one can wait til tomorrow...if it's better outside. There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...
