Is anyone getting mail yet?

I think it depends on the Post Office as well.
According to my mate who's a postie Royal Mail told all the posties that they could deliver the mail if they wanted but they weren't insured for these conditions. My local post office is one of the most militant in Britain so they refused to deliver the mail. Other post offices may well have just got on with it.
We didn't receive any post for 10 days.0 -
Down here we were told the posties wanted to go out but weren't allowed - maybe that translates as told they weren't insured I don't know.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0 -
Are they on strike again? must have been at least a month since the last one so they should be due at least a week off.0

Some mail arriving but still waiting on my Tifosi bike bag that I won on ebay.
It managed to get north in the bad weather but has been sitting at the Motherwell depot....about 40miles away....since 3am yesterday morning0 -

I picked up a parcel today that was posted on the 26th November. I'd given up on it as lost in transit....More problems but still living....0

Lots of stuff gettng through to us since about last friday, but now comes the news that Tesco et al aren't sure they'll get everything sorted before xmas, so they're not going to deliver to Scotland for the foreseeable future  That'll certainly go down well in places like Galloway where there's been pretty much no snow.
That's probably better than zazzle.co.uk: Bompette is a keen runner and we wanted to get her a hoodie for xmas with an "eat sleep run" logo. We found one at Zazzle, everything looked fine as we went through the usual annoying and unnecessary registration process, until the final payment page. P&P listed as 4.95, could be worse I thought, as usual I checked the small print & found the xmas posting info. Turns out that 4.95 is the standard postage, and the last order date for guranteed delivery is about November 25th. Or you could always upgrade to express... £22!
Remember that's a hoodie, not a steam roller.
Guess who didn't get my business after all?0 -
How's the post situation in blighty now? Are packages getting through?
I ordered some stuff for Christmas presents which was posted on 9th of December to be sent to my parents address and it still (up to last night) hasn't arrived.

I've been out most the weekend delivering mail, even with the amount of snow we had here in Southport we have been out regardless
The main problems now are the backlogs at the main sorting offices where they've not managed to clear the huge amount of parcels :shock:MTB - Claud Butler Olympus XT

Yeah it's been quite obvious here in Sheffield that once the snow had gone they started delivering parcels posted after the snow pretty quickly, but those posted before/during the snow seemed to be only trickling into the delivery system. Everything I've ordered since the 12th December has been delivered now, its stuff from early December that's taking ages.More problems but still living....0

i wouldnt be surprised if there is alot of parcels still stuck in depots, well thats what we are being advised anyway.... these early starts arent great and some people really do not appreciate the effort made to deliver parcels in these bad conditionsMTB - Claud Butler Olympus XT

A few of us neighbours are going to club together an buy our postie a winter coat for Christmas. Maybe then he'll consider delivering when there's a bit of snow on the ground.
Better not get it mail order though
Today (Wednesday) I got last weeks CW (it's been available in my corner shop since last Thursday). :roll:0 -
Royal Mail are trapped in a 1980smindset - if they were a business they'd go under because if customers had reasonable choices they would leave in droves - for the 4th winter in a row we get a little snow for a day or so and the whole thing caves-in. Modern businesses have crisis management and business continuity plans to prevent their operations from failing due to unforeseen events - the fact that snow in winter is entirely predictable just demonstrates their incompetence.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Lets hope you get the postal system you want monty.. and the comment about the snow had me rolling around the floor. Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?0

The postie in my neck of the woods has delivered every day but we are getting less than usual presumably due to delays at the other end.0
