Jon Bonham no question. His use of silence in Kashmir makes the song whereas Moon would have filled it with unnecessary noise. Wasn't Moon always a fraction behind or ahead of the beat too?

    Phil Collins...

Was going to go for him but was scared I'd get laughed out of the cake stop!

Rick Allen - to still be able to produce the goods after losing an arm is impressive.

    It's Keith Moon, innit?

Honourable mentions for John Bonham, Neil Peart and Jaki Liebezeit.
  • For my money it would be one the following:-

Dave Weckl - Best technical drummer by far
Jeff Porcaro - No-one could play a song like Porcaro
John Bonham - Rocks best ever
Tony Williams - Best swing drummer
Tony Royster Jr. - Best RnB/Pocket drummer

    There are many many more:-

    Steve Gadd - Technician...listen to 50 ways
Bernard Purdie - inventor of the Purdie Shuffle.
    Thomas Lang - FAST!!!!!

Yeah Weckl is one of the best I've seen - Gary Husband and Vinnie Colaiuta are good aswell. Fusion's my thing, pop-wise,

Agree with most of the classic names.

Would add Simon Phillips, Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Jordan and my current number 1....after my son of course!....Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree.

I'm saying Phil, not for his drumming skills but because he does so much more besides. For that reason Matt Helders needs a mention

    Jon Bonham - Led Zeplin
    Phil Taylor - Motorhead
Dave Grohl - Nirvana, Foo Fighters (he played drums on the first album), Probot, Queens of the Stone Age & Them Crooked Vultures
Joey Castillo - Queens of the Stone Age & Eagles Of Death Metal

Phil Taylor plays the only drum solo that doesn't bore the shit out of the audience, last month in Bristol he was so loud that the light lesnes were shattering while he was playing.
First time I saw Dave Grohl play drums live I couldn't believe how good he was, far better as a drummer than as a front man. Jon Bonham was just the first great drummer.
  • Rick Allen for his 1 armed awesomeness

The one and only Roger Taylor. Thank god he can drum better than he can sing
Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!

    Q. What's the definition of a bassist?
