Poor guys. Such a tragic shame. Our thoughts go to our Italian cycling friends.
  • What an utterly terrible waste of life.
  • :( How tragic and just before X-mas, those poor families.

  • According to some, marijuana is harmless and should be legalised. :?

A terrible incident, and my condolenece to the families of all involved in what can only be described as a tragedy.

Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

Legal to use/smoke, perhaps, not to consume and drive - in the same way as drink driving.

An awful tragedy, thoughts with their poor families.

The driver, who was also injured in the incident and had to be cut free from the mangled wreckage of his Mercedes car, later tested positive for cannabis, police said.
In addition, the Moroccan man's license had been taken from him seven months ago for dangerous driving

Horrific incident, made all the worse by it seeming to be a drugged disqualified driver driving the car.

Utterly horrendous, obviously driving while under the influence with his 10 year old son in the car, shows what contempt he has for human life, luckily his son was uninjured, can't say the same about the driver tho :x :x

That is just shocking.. how one idiot can change so many lives.
    :(
Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?
  • Those photo's are very shocking despite the liberal use of white blankets, lord knows what the emergency services had to witness.

At the risk of making one more child fatherless, the driver should be strung up.

    Get real

Such remarks just detract from the sanctity of life and the extent of the tragic accident here

No, you get real. The drug taking criminal has just killed eight people and destroyed the life of countless others. He has a child of his own to whom he sets an awful role model.

Of course we both know there is no death penalty so he won't get his comeupance IMO and he can carry on being a shining example to his son.

Hey, you two, I wish I could speak Italian because if I could I'd circulate a message of shock and condolences to the town/leisure centre they came from and you'd both sign it for exactly the same and equally real reasons. There's been a terrible waste of life, the driver, Chafik Elketani, has been a terrible waster of life. But there's no point in wasting our lives fighting over it. Please.

Thanks, Frank. I think all cyclists will feel together over this.
  • There for the grace of god go all of us. God bless the families and peace to the departed.
